Job description

Join Our Team as the Transportation Engineering Technician
The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a dynamic and experienced Transportation Engineering Technician to provide technical engineering support to the Town's Traffic Operations Program related primarily to the operation and maintenance of the Town's traffic control system infrastructure.
What You Will Do
  • Assist in the preparation of transportation and traffic project design plans and specifications
  • Assist in managing maintenance contracts
  • Develop maintenance plans for roadways, and traffic signals infrastructure and systems
  • Assist with traffic signal maintenance and operations
  • Plan, manage, and/or conducts field surveying as necessary for engineering analysis, design, and/or construction layouts
  • Prepare technical reports and statistical analyses
  • Assists with asset management database of all Town maintained traffic signals, pathways, roadways, and private dirt roads
  • Respond to public infrastructure service requests, providing excellent customer service
  • Assist in the acquisition of easements, properties, and road rights of way

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years education in Computer Aided Design (CAD), Geographic Information Systems, Construction Technology, Electric Circuitry, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • International Municipal Signal Association Level 1 - Traffic Signal Technician (or ability to obtain within one (1) year)
  • May require varied work schedule
  • Valid Driver's License
