Job description

This Professional Engineer I, Design position with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) in Alamosa involves designing transportation projects, managing the design process from scoping through advertisement, and preparing construction plans and specifications for highway improvement projects. The role requires a licensed Professional Engineer to apply engineering principles and design standards, manage CAD software development, oversee lower-level staff, and serve as CDOT's engineer of record on projects throughout Region 5.

Key qualifications
  • Current, valid Professional Engineer licensure from Colorado or another U.S. state (Colorado license required within six months if out-of-state)
  • 3-5 years of knowledge and experience in civil or transportation engineering design and/or construction
