The Department of Biology seeks a broadly trained biologist with demonstrated excellence in innovative undergraduate teaching and mentoring. This position is a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor of Biology beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to curricular design and assessment with other faculty members, teach undergraduate courses, advise and mentor undergraduate students, be team-oriented with a service-leadership and growth mindset mentality, and foster an inclusive and equitable classroom and work environment. Position will be open until filled.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Teaching responsibilities include lecture and laboratories for 200-level Anatomy and Physiology courses designed for pre-professional track majors (e.g., Exercise Science, Pre-PT, Pre-Nursing, Pre-Pharmacy), and possibly lecture and laboratories for introductory cellular biology courses designed for both BIO and pre-professional track majors. Other teaching responsibilities will depend on the candidate's area of expertise and departmental needs.

  • Teaching load consists of a 5/5 schedule, or 15 contact hours a semester

  • Involvement in service to the profession and the Biology department.

  • Use of best practices in curriculum development and assessment, including the implementation of student-centered and evidence-based teaching practices such as active learning or Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs).

  • Mentoring and advising a population of students with multiple intersections of identity (e.g., first-generation, socioeconomic status, non-traditional).

  • Search/create opportunities to enhance student learning outcomes and experiential learning (e.g., coordinating with Wingate's Health Graduate Programs)

  • Regular, predictable attendance on campus.

  • Alignment with the University's mission, vision, and strategic roadmap.

Education and Experience:
  • M.S. in Biology, Physiology, or a closely related field required. PhD preferred.
