Job Description

The Director of Financial Compliance and US Transparency Reporting (FCT) leads a high-performing team responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and effectiveness of AbbVie’s US Enterprise Federal ‘Sunshine’ and State Reporting program.  With a strong focus on analytics and insights generation, data accuracy, process controls, and systems governance, this role oversees financial data monitoring and reporting for Health Care Professional (HCP) and Health Care Organization (HCO) interactions across all US Commercial Therapeutics business units and all US Aesthetics business units. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, develop, and motivate a team of 20 financial professionals, providing strategic direction and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and audit-ready Federal Open Payments ‘Sunshine’ and State Reporting annual filings, and mid-year data updates, including oversight of sub-certifications and attestations.
  • Direct the US Enterprise’s financial compliance program, overseeing review, audits, and reconciliations across 35 + data sources including Speaker Programs, Employee Business Expenses, Sponsorships, Exhibits, Membership, Advisory Boards, and other initiatives like Influencers and E-commerce. Ensure comprehensive HCP/HCO transaction capture for Sunshine Reporting.
  • Oversee the centralized transparency data hub, State Spend Data Mart (SDM), and ancillary systems such as Rapid Zone and MARs, in close collaboration with the BTS Systems team. Leverage analytical tools (Power BI, Dataiku, BOT, and AI technology) to enhance data insights and integrity checks.
  • Serve as a key business leader for Corporate and US Commercial systems and process initiatives affecting FCT reporting (including programs like Project Genesis and Next Gen CRM implementations) to ensure reporting requirements and internal controls are built into solution design.
  • Strategic partner to OEC and key participant in the OEC Governance Council.  Support various OEC initiatives, utilizing the OEC Risk Assessment, and providing insights to integrate risk-based data monitoring to enhance compliance.
  • Partner with Legal to ensure all Federal ‘Sunshine’ and State Reporting filings comply with legal requirements.
  • Govern team activities to ensure best practices in financial compliance, keeping AbbVie’s US Enterprise current with all internal policies and procedures, including CFMs and OPPF.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including US Commercial leadership, Internal Audit, OEC, Legal, Procurement, FSS, and BTS Systems on compliance related matters.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA and/or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive, relevant experience in finance or accounting roles.
  • Knowledge of Federal ‘Sunshine’ and State Reporting requirements preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data in clear, simple terms to influence outcomes.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including team building, goal alignment, motivation, and delivering exceptional results.
  • Strong organizational and influencing skills; adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to generate ideas, challenge the status quo, and drive innovation to reality.
  • Proficient in handling large datasets and familiar with systems like Excel, PowerBI, Dataiku, and S4/HANA.
