Transmission Designer โ€“ (Hybrid | Phoenix, Tucson, or Albuquerque)

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Transmission Designer to support cutting-edge power delivery and transmission projects. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong BIM and 3D modeling expertise who thrives in a collaborative, technology-driven environment.


Position Overview

The Transmission Designer will be responsible for developing and managing discipline-specific BIM models and design deliverables for transmission, substation, and power distribution projects. This role emphasizes digital delivery, 3D coordination, and model quality, contributing to high-impact infrastructure projects in a flexible hybrid work setting.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage discipline-specific BIM models in accordance with project scope and Digital Delivery Plans (DDP)
  • Create detailed 3D designs, layouts, and engineering drawings using advanced BIM and CAD tools
  • Maintain model integrity, including coordinates, scaling, orientation, and documentation standards
  • Generate accurate annotations, documentation, and drawing packages
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless model integration across projects
  • Perform 3D coordination and clash detection to resolve design conflicts early
  • Uphold and improve company BIM standards and model health practices
  • Execute all digital delivery and modeling requirements for project success
  • Work independently within your discipline while collaborating across engineering and design teams
  • Support design efforts for:
    • Transmission systems
    • Substations
    • Power distribution infrastructure
    • Participate in design reviews and coordination meetings, providing updates and resolving issues

    Required Qualifications
    • Technical degree or equivalent combination of education and industry experience
    • 5+ years of experience in transmission, power delivery, or related design work
    • Advanced proficiency in:
      • 3D BIM design software
      • 3D coordination tools (clash detection, model integration)
      • Strong understanding of:
        • Engineering/architectural documentation
        • Power delivery systems and design principles
        • Experience with document management systems for project coordination
        • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
        • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills

        Preferred Qualifications
        • Experience with substation and transmission design projects
        • Experience in electrical and power distribution systems
        • Proficiency in:

          Pay and Benefits
