Job Description

The UI Designer will work closely with an existing team of high performing UX Designers, User Experience Researchers, and UI Designers to create the user experience for the core journeys and products of AmericanExpress.com. You will partner closely with functional leads in a fast moving, agile team. As a UI Designer you will be hands on in all aspects of the interface design including: gathering and understanding business & user needs, visual design research, competitive analysis, storyboard development, developing and detailing mood boards, user interface research and design, asset production, poster design, high/low fidelity prototypes and a wide range of strategic UI deliverables that drive core concepts to generate best in digital interactive experiences. Responsibilities include: 


Transform ideas, business opportunities, research and creative vision into tangible assets that provide clear, usable, useful and desirable outcomes for users

Create UI comps, pattern sets, details and assets for usability testing and live production environments, develop high / low fidelity prototypes, story boards and a wide range of UI assets and deliverables 

Work closely with team leads to drive best digital experiences through all phases of product development, ship, and iterate

Effectively act on partner feedback integrating user testing results and learning's to improve the creative production process and ultimately our products and services

Develop fast moving, tangible design process that deliver quality experiences within sprint cycles 

Brainstorm, ideate, and iterate as needed 

Work in collaboration with key project team members, including user experience researchers, product owners, tech leads, developers, strategy, PM, and UX 

Be a passionate advocate for the user, ground ideas in data driven solutions by partnering with our User Experience Research team to incorporate customer insights and principles throughout the creative process and still be bold enough to let design intuition guide you  

Ensure adherence to design best practices, standards, brand consistency

Critical understanding of digital graphic design, typography, and interface design guidelines, practices, and best practices 



Qualifications

Responsibilities

  Execute a range of digital design work for one of the world's top brands.

Collaborate with Senior Designers and Creative Directors to ensure designs are consistent with project expectations and goals.

Manage multiple creative projects as a designer and a creative leader.

Work closely with fellow designers and developers to build out prototypes and provide support for usability tests.

Be a passionate advocate for the user, ground ideas in industry best practices, usability research and incorporate customer insights and principles throughout the creative process.

Act as a creative expert on projects outsourced to other agencies and help uphold design best practices, guidelines, brand consistency, and quality.

It's critical that you have a strong understanding of digital graphic design, typography, and interface design.


Qualifications

2-3 years digital agency or client side experience as a visual designer.

Fluent in relevant design software; particularly Photoshop, Illustrator

Experience designing for multiple devices and platforms, understanding responsive layouts and how to optimize design for flexible layout treatments.

Strong relationship management skills, including the ability to effectively collaborate at all levels.

Experience working with tech developers and familiarity with HTML, CSS

Vision, passion and POV about the evolution of interactive design.

Desire to develop oneself; a hunger to innovate and stay current in trends and techniques.

Ability to take direction, and change direction as the project requires.

Capacity to take ownership of tasks, and drive tasks through to completion

Strong portfolio required and a keen sense of humor.


Educational requirement

Bachelors in Design, Graphic Arts or equivalent.
