What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Translator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Translator, you need advanced proficiency in at least two languages, strong grammar skills, and a relevant degree or certification in translation or linguistics. Familiarity with computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, terminology databases, and industry-specific software is typically required. Excellent attention to detail, cultural sensitivity, and effective communication are important soft skills for this role. These abilities are crucial to ensure accurate, context-appropriate translations that meet client needs and industry standards.

What are some common challenges translators face when working in a team setting at a translation agency?

Translators working in a team environment, such as at a translation agency, often encounter challenges related to maintaining consistency in terminology and style across projects. Effective communication and collaboration with project managers, editors, and fellow translators are essential to address these issues. Additionally, translators may need to adapt quickly to varying client requirements and tight deadlines, balancing accuracy with efficiency. Leveraging shared glossaries, style guides, and regular team meetings can help overcome these challenges and ensure high-quality, cohesive translations.

Job description

Now Hiring: Server at Kaminsky’s Dessert Café – Downtown Charleston, SC

Where sweet dreams (and dessert martinis) come true.

About Us
Kaminsky’s isn’t your average café. We’re a dessert haven where whipped cream is piled high, cookies are baked fresh daily, and milkshakes are so thick you’ll need a spoon and a moment of awe. Located in the heart of Downtown Charleston, we’re known for indulgent treats, cozy vibes, and unforgettable dessert experiences. Signature sips, spirited hot drinks, dessert cocktails, and a full bar round out the fun.

The Opportunity
We’re on the lookout for charismatic, quick-on-their-feet Servers who know how to make a guest’s day sweeter—literally. As the face of Kaminsky’s, you'll create personalized, memorable moments by pairing warm hospitality with decadent desserts and beverages that wow.

Who We Are
Kaminsky’s is part of the Homegrown Hospitality Group—15+ restaurants across South Carolina, each with their own flavor but united by a shared mission: hospitality from the heart. Charleston, Columbia, Myrtle Beach… no matter the city, we bring fun, flavor, and family.

Why You’ll Love It Here
We know happy teams make for happy guests, which is why we invest in our people:

  • Paid Time Off (so you can recharge)
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Health Incentive amp; Reimbursement Accounts
  • Education and Financial Stability Grants
  • Employee Discounts and Tenure Rewards
Work hard, stay inspired, and grow with us.

What You’ll Do

  • Greet every guest like they’re walking into your home
  • Serve up desserts, drinks, and a stellar dining experience
  • Rock the POS system like a pro
  • Know the menu like it’s your favorite playlist
  • Keep things tidy and flowing smoothly
  • Recommend your faves (and upsell with heart)
  • Help every guest leave with a smile—and maybe a sugar rush

What You Bring

  • 18+ years of life experience
  • A passion for people, good vibes, and great service
  • Alcohol Safety Certified (or willing to be)
  • Previous serving experience is a plus, but a great attitude is a must
  • Hustle, heart, and the ability to keep your cool when the café’s poppin’

Pay
$2.13/hour + tips (translation: your charm and service skills can earn you big here)

Our Culture
We’re not just building restaurants—we’re building communities. HHG is rooted in giving back, showing up, and delivering consistent hospitality time and again. We treat guests like friends and team members like family.
