Location: Tarpon Springs, FL
Compensation: $17.41/hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Operations
Reports To: Facility Director
Position Overview
The Shift Supervisor acts as the facility supervisor in the absence of the Facility Director and/or Assistant Facility Director. This position performs duties in the areas of legal process, general custodial functions, detention operations, and dispatching as assigned. The role is responsible for helping ensure the detention center operates in a peaceful, safe, and secure manner for clients, staff, visitors, and the surrounding community

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the facility supervisor in the absence of the Facility Director and/or Assistant Facility Director.
  • Maintain safety, security, and order for clients, staff, visitors, and the surrounding community.
  • Enforce facility policies, procedures, emergency plans, and daily operational directives.
  • Supervise client movement and activities, including meals, work periods, classes, visitation, recreation, and sleeping hours.
  • Monitor housing areas through regular inspections, patrols, counts, and contraband control procedures.
  • Complete required documentation, reports, logs, and WRIMS entries accurately and on time.
  • Conduct intake processes for new clients, including security file preparation and required documentation.
  • Report maintenance, safety, and client-related concerns promptly and in accordance with policy.
  • Maintain professionalism, sound judgment, and emotional control in routine and high-stress situations.
  • Attend required trainings and staff meetings and perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience
  • Ability to work in a structured or secure environment
  • Willingness to work with justice-involved individuals
  • 4+ years working with incarcerated or criminal justice-involved population
  • Must pass a background check and be approved for the position by the Florida Department of Corrections

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal boundaries

Licenses / Certifications
  • Valid Florida driver's license
  • Ability to pass a background screening and meet Florida Department of Corrections requirements

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in corrections, criminal justice, behavioral health, or reentry services
  • Prior experience working with justice-involved populations
  • College coursework in criminal justice, psychology, social work, or related field

Work Environment
This position operates within a secure residential program environment and involves:
  • Continuous interaction with residents in a structured setting
  • Exposure to potentially high-stress or safety-sensitive situations
  • Routine documentation and computer-based work
  • Physical activity including walking, standing, and monitoring throughout the facility

Schedule Expectations
  • 12-hour rotating shifts (3-4 days per week) Mid shift from 1pm to 10pm Wednesday thru Sunday
  • Nights, weekends, and holidays required
  • Overtime may be available based on operational needs
