Here, you join a team that leverages differences, harnesses their entrepreneurial spirit in an employee-owned company, that believes diversity is what gives us strength, seeks sustainable results and shares ambitions for each other, our clients and the communities we are part of and serve. To be a part of EXP means to have your own experience, while staying connected to a global network of professionals, who believe we are a part of something bigger. Together, we are EXP.
Are you ready to design your future?
Be our next Vice President, Transit
Your work environment at EXP
Given our growing business, EXP is looking for a Transit Lead to join our Rail and Transit team in Seattle, supporting a portfolio of major transit, rail, and infrastructure programs across Pacific Northwest and the broader United States. This role is suited to a senior transit professional who combines multidisciplinary design leadership, strong client relationships, and a passion for delivering transportation solutions that strengthen the communities we serve.
In this senior leadership role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, contractors, subconsultants, and public agencies to deliver complex projects in alignment with client objectives, EXP's commercial goals, and our commitment to quality, safety, and sustainability. The Transit Lead provides strategic oversight of design development and implementation, supports integrated teams delivering major transit programs-including those where EXP serves as prime consultant-and guides teams and clients through critical phases of decision-making, risk management, and execution across the project lifecycle.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
  • Provide senior leadership to multidisciplinary teams of EXP engineers, designers, project managers, and subconsultants, establishing clear delivery frameworks that support consistent, high-quality outcomes.
  • Champion quality assurance and governance standards, providing oversight and independent review to ensure technical, regulatory, and contractual risks are effectively managed.
  • Shape and support business development strategies to grow and diversify EXP's transit portfolio in Houston, Texas, and surrounding markets, while cultivating trusted, long-term relationships with key clients, partners, and industry organizations.
  • Act as a senior representative of EXP within the regional transit and infrastructure market, including relationship leadership with public agencies, industry partners, and selected industry organizations.
  • Build and sustain a culture of collaboration, excellence, and accountability across integrated project teams, supporting workforce planning, senior recruitment, and succession.
  • Mentor and develop project and technical leaders through coaching, performance feedback, and promotion processes.
  • Provide strategic oversight of project and program performance across schedule, budget, risk, and delivery outcomes, intervening as needed to support resolution and successful execution.

What your experience looks like
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with 15+ years of experience providing senior leadership across complex transit, rail, or infrastructure projects within multidisciplinary environments.
  • Professional Engineering or Architecture license preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects, with accountability for design and technical excellence, commercial performance, risk, and outcomes.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, including transit agencies, owners, contractors, consultants, and public agencies.
  • Experience leading major projects delivered through design-build is required; experience with other alternative delivery models, including CM/GC and Progressive Design-Build, is preferred.
  • Experience across transit, rail, and major infrastructure programs; maintenance facility experience is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to lead across multiple complex priorities, providing clarity, governance, and strategic focus in fast-paced, high-risk environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, align, and advise senior stakeholders.

The pay range for this role is $220,000 to $260,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
