Job Description
Benefits:

Salary:
The salary for this position ranges from $70,000 - $80,000 and varies based on specific responsibilities and geographic location. Starting hourly rate within this range will be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or skillset.
Summary:
This position will be responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels at the various manufacturing plants while managing levels to meet corporate goals. The buyer will be responsible for supporting the Metals category of products on all Purchases.
Essential Functions:
  • Manage the assigned segments within the metal category towards proper inventory levels and reduction of backorders. The end goal of properly servicing our production facilities and customer base.
  • Develop strong relationships with all of the metals group supply base.
  • Work closely with all Suppliers to identify available inventories to purchase.
  • Manage product category to support intra-companies plant production.
  • Communicate between both plant and suppliers to determine plants needs and supplier capacity to supply product.
  • Understand various indexes for the commodities supported (Steel, Paper, and Resin)
  • Manage inventories to Key Performance Indicators set by manager.
  • Expedite purchase orders to meet demands and on time shipping metrics.
  • Prepare for demand changes in planning to ensure high accuracy of forecast needs.
  • Coordinate the shipments and logistics of purchase orders.
  • Identify current product shortages and develop and communicate a recovery plan to both plant and manager.
  • Coordinate material movement between vendors, warehouse, and production.
  • Key point person in RGA processing procedures.
  • Collaborate with plants to ensure proper inventory targets are met.
  • Work with multiple departments (category manager, sales, and plants) to determine forecast by product groups.
  • Be actively involved monthly SIOP meetings.
  • Work with plant and supply base to define capacity planning and prioritize purchase order production.
  • Work with other departments and teams to increase efficiency. (Inventory analysts, supply chain, customer service, warehouse and receiving)

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree, preferably emphasis in Supply Chain
Experience:
  • 3-5 years inventory or supply chain experience.
  • Previous buying experience
  • Knowledge of the packaging industry would be helpful.
  • Understanding of the Steel, Paper, and Resin commodity markets

Note: This is an office-based position, and individuals are expected to be in the office 5 days per week. Signode offers a flexible work hour schedule.
