The Business Transformation Change Manager is responsible for enabling successful adoption of transformation initiatives within their functional areas and the connection to the wider change plan and execution. This role requires a deep understanding of the functional area it owns and the ability to effectively partner with business, technology, and transformation leaders to define and embed readiness, adoption, and engagement activities directly into functional delivery plans. The Change Manager owns and drives the functional strategic approach to change management, leadership alignment, capability building and cultural evolution required to realize long-term transformation value. In addition to documenting, and managing change impacts that affect people, end-to-end processes, roles, and ways of working, this role is critical to ensure that functional teams are prepared, supported, and able to sustain new ways of working as transformation progresses. This is a full-time, dedicated role for the duration of the transformation program (estimated 5-7 years).

Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC, Quincy, MA, Scarborough, ME

Responsibilities
  • Develop the change management and readiness strategy for a functional area in alignment with the enterprise change strategy
  • Lead change management planning and execution, including readiness activities, stakeholder engagement, communications, and training inputs, ensuring transformation impacts are identified, documented, and actively managed
  • Provide deep functional expertise to understand the end-to-end current state and be able to map to the future state across process, ways of working, and operating model changes
  • Establish clear adoption and readiness goals and create readiness assessment frameworks and maturity models to measure capability gaps, engagement levels, and adoption at multiple levels
  • Drive leadership alignment and ownership of change objectives across the management teams
  • Conduct detailed change impact assessments across people, process, technology, roles, skills, and behaviors, documenting impacts to inform the integrated change and readiness plan
  • Partner with functional business leads, program managers, and solution teams to understand upcoming changes and embed change enablement activities into delivery plans and milestones
  • Identify stakeholder groups and assess readiness, resistance, and engagement levels within the assigned function, proactively addressing risks to adoption
  • Partner closely with Business and IT leads to align change initiatives with transformation roadmaps and equip leadership teams with the skills, tools, and behaviors needed to lead ongoing transformation effectively by providing change tools, talking points, and guidance
  • Lead behavioral and cultural change initiatives, explicitly connecting new behaviors to measurable business outcomes and KPI improvements
  • Execute functional communications and engagement activities in coordination with enterprise messaging, ensuring consistency while addressing local impacts and concerns
  • Monitor adoption, readiness, and feedback within the functional area, escalating risks, resistance, or capacity concerns to the Organizational Readiness / Change Lead with actionable insights
  • Support training and capability-building efforts by identifying functional training needs, validating role-based impacts, and partnering with training teams to ensure relevance and timing
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of change management practices by providing feedback on tools, templates, and methods based on functional execution experience

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in organizational development, business, HR, communications, or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience supporting or leading change management, organizational readiness, or transformation initiatives within complex organizations
  • Hands-on experience conducting change impact assessments and supporting adoption activities within business or technology-enabled transformations
  • Strong understanding of core change management principles, including stakeholder analysis, readiness assessment, communications, and training support
  • Proven ability to work effectively in matrixed environments, partnering across business, technology, and transformation teams without direct authority
  • Strong influencing, communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving transformation environments with overlapping initiatives
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ERP or complex systems-enabled business transformations
  • Certification or formal training in change management methodologies (e.g., Prosci or similar)
  • Experience developing and managing comprehensive readiness frameworks and maturity models
  • Familiarity with retail, grocery, or consumer goods business environments
  • Understanding of organizational design and operating model shifts tied to business transformation
