Job description

Flaherty Sensabaugh Bonasso PLLC is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to provide high-level administrative and litigation and transactional support to attorneys in our Morgantown, WV office. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

This position is well suited for a legal secretary with several years of experience who takes initiative, communicates professionally, and understands the importance of accuracy, confidentiality, and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and litigation support to assigned attorneys.
  • Prepare, revise, format, proofread, and finalize correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery documents, and other legal materials.
  • Assist with electronic filing in state and federal courts and ensure compliance with applicable filing procedures and deadlines.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, including hearings, depositions, meetings, court appearances, and filing deadlines.
  • Coordinate depositions, meetings, conference calls, and other litigation-related activities.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files.
  • Assist with document production, discovery materials, exhibits, and trial preparation.
  • Prepare and process attorney time entries, expense reports, invoices, and other administrative documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and other parties.
  • Monitor deadlines and proactively follow up on outstanding assignments and case-related matters.
  • Provide backup administrative support to other attorneys and team members as needed.
Qualifications
  • 2โ€“5+ years of legal secretary or comparable legal support experience, preferably in litigation.
  • Working knowledge of litigation procedures, court filings, and legal terminology.
  • Experience with federal and state electronic filing systems preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent proofreading, grammar, formatting, and document-production skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities with careful attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines while supporting multiple attorneys and matters.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Dependable, collaborative, and comfortable working independently when necessary.
