Job description

Patient Care Coordinator

The Patient Care Coordinator greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner, as well as instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. The receptionist receives cash payments from patients, issues receipts and posts cash payment data. The Patient Care Coordinator will serve as part of the front desk team to check in/check out patients for multiple providers at the Specialty clinic including Lab, Podiatry, Endocrinology, Diabetic Education and Neurology. Additional responsibilities include answering phones that support scheduling for both the Denver Specialty clinic and the South Specialty clinic.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00AM - 5:30PM MST (8-hour shift, 40-hours per week). The supervisor will determine the schedule, within the given hours, upon hire.

Location: 1721 Rio Rancho Drive Rio Rancho, NM Travel may be required for training or coverage at other sites, as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct customer service and front desk assistance for assigned department to include but not limited to registering, scheduling and verifying insurance and arriving patients. Electronic eligibility verification, updating patient demographics, ensuring required referrals and prior authorization are in place for patient visit. Manage No-show list. Schedules wait list, follow-up, x-ray, referral appointments
  • Handles customer account transactions, provides customer assistance, and performs and/or oversees cashiering operations
  • Reconciles daily cash deposit in accordance with cash balance policy and procedures. Settlement of EDC credit card machines to include reconciliation of transactions against settlement
  • May be required to analyze medical records and charge entry information for financial reimbursement within the guidelines and procedures. Work TES charge entry edits
  • Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure patient safety and regulations. May attend departmental meetings and provide constructive recommendations for areas improvement
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of customer service experience with strong communication both in person and via phone
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with electronic health records
  • 1+ years of related healthcare experience, including scheduling experience
  • 1+ years of experience handling and triaging of telephone calls and a multi-system phone line
  • Ability to handle cash and to count money at high volumes including mathematical computations
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Bilingual (English /Spanish)

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.98 to $32.12 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
