Job description

JOIN OUR TEAM

Northwest Ambulance is looking for an Training Specialist to help shape the next generation of our EMS professionals. In this role you'll deliver hands-on classroom training, welcome and prepare new hires, and keep our training programs sharp and current. This is an individual-contributor role working alongside a collaborative Training Department team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead the classroom portion of new-hire orientation and training (held bi-weekly or as hiring demands require)
  • Coordinate orientation and field training scheduling for RNs, EMTs, Medics, dispatchers, drivers, and other new employees
  • Conduct EVIP training and assist with skills, scenarios, and equipment instruction
  • Hold post-training meetings with new hires after field training
  • Support the Field Training Officer (FTO) program - meetings, recruitment, ride-alongs, and quarterly reviews
  • Maintain the Learning Management System (LMS) and training records
  • Help run quarterly OTEP skill sessions and public CPR & First Aid classes
  • Contribute content to the NWA newsletter

Requirements

Required:

  • WA State EMT-B certification (must maintain current EMS certification)
  • WA State EMS Evaluator (upon meeting state criteria)
  • HSI BLS Instructor rating, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • 3 years of service with Northwest Ambulance in good standing, OR 5 years of related job experience

Preferred:

  • EVIP Instructor (or obtained within 6 months)
  • IFSAC Instructor 1 (or obtained within 6 months)
  • 2+ years in EMS education and experience in adult education (transferable skills considered)

Physical Requirements:  

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.  

Position requires varying times sitting; either driving or carrying out tasks at a desk. 

Position requires full range of motion. Movements include but are not limited to: standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, pulling and pushing, lifting, and grasping.
