About the role
HealthFitness is seeking a Program Manager I - Health Promotion to support a large client health promotion program in Durham, NC area. In this role, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of wellness initiatives that help employees build healthier habits and stay engaged in their well-being. This position is a great fit for a health promotion professional who enjoys collaborating with client partners, managing program logistics, supporting a team of part-time wellness staff, and using data to evaluate outcomes and improve program impact. If you are organized, relationship-focused, and motivated by turning wellness strategies into meaningful employee experiences, we'd like to hear from you. Flexible M-F schedule and must be able to work in close proximity to therapy dogs.
Responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination, and delivery of health promotion activities throughout a designated geographical region/segment of a large client health promotion program to facilitate behavior change, maximize engagement and outcomes and customer satisfaction. Collaborates with site stakeholders and serves as the primary client contact at locations in their region; integrates directly with client health partners; and collects and evaluates program data to support the ROI process.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Develops and implements the yearly strategic business plan for DRAH and DRH Hospitals including program plan, marketing plan, and communication plan. Ensures contract compliance. Manages client relationship to ensure that high customer satisfaction is maintained and HealthFitness value is reinforced.
  • Supervises part-time staff including health coaches, dietitans and chair massage therapists.
  • Interfaces with client company management and peripheral departments at DRAH and DRH Hospitals. Maintains on-going communication with client management, medical department, and other functional areas including health related vendor-suppliers, as appropriate, to assess client needs and identify HFC programming solutions
  • Coordinates planning and delivery of all health promotion programs throughout the entire organization in collaboration with corporate and site stakeholders; ensures full integration of program throughout all lines of Client business (e.g., includes wellness challenges, wellness webinars, departmental presentations, on-site farmers market, pet therapy program). Designs and develops outcomes focused health promotion programs and interventions including data collection and evaluation process.
  • Coordinates marketing and communications of all health promotion programs to maximize program engagement, bringing in HealthFitness Corporate support as appropriate.
  • Assesses effectiveness of current health education interventions and enhance delivery methods to reach all segments of the population with greater impact on outcome results.
  • Maintains accurate records and ensures confidentiality of all data collected for health promotion activities in accordance with HealthFitness requirements including if applicable, file transfer processes collaborating with other health related suppliers. Tracks participant and program data for measurement of individual and program goal achievement, outcomes, and results. Creates outcomes focused management reports based on the identified business plan goals and objectives.
  • Prepares and manages operating budget. Ensures expenditures are made in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. Submits employment forms, payroll records, and billing worksheets accurately and according to contract provisions and HealthFitness policies as applicable.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 1 years related industry experience, including program management in a health plan, health improvement, or related environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong leadership, team management, interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office including at minimum Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of program development and implementation, data collection and analysis and outcomes reporting.
  • Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.

The compensation range for this role is $53,000 - $63,000 annually. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
