Job description

Location: Onsite Employment Type: Full-Time Clearance: Not required initially; must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) "Q" security clearance if assigned duties require it. About the Role: Our Client is seeking a Senior Training Specialist to join their training and development team. Under limited supervision, this role performs a variety of instructional support functions - including analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of training programs. Using effective training methods, you will equip trainees with the knowledge and skills required to perform their jobs safely and competently. This position may act in a lead capacity for a limited subject area or training program and will be held accountable for training results within that scope. You may also act as a Subcontract Technical Representative, coordinating subcontracted personnel efforts including budgeting, man-hour accounting, and work oversight. Key Responsibilities * Present training in a variety of settings; monitor and promote trainee achievement of objectives * Conduct trainee evaluation and remediation * Maintain accurate training records and files (rosters, examinations, transmittals) * Evaluate training effectiveness through end-of-course evaluations and exam results analysis * Provide training status updates to management * Conduct needs, job, and task analyses on assigned training projects * Develop and maintain task-to-training matrices * Design training programs, including objectives based on skills, knowledge, and abilities; instructional sequencing; training methods and settings * Develop test items and evaluation instruments that measure trainee performance and ensure predictive validity * Develop and revise training materials based on student/instructor feedback and changes to equipment, procedures, practices, or policy * Evaluate training materials for compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and good practices * Conduct training program assessments and Management Field Observations (MFOs) * Provide guidance to training staff on instructor skills and the training process (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) * Develop Training Program Descriptions (TPDs) for assigned programs * Respond to internal/external audit and surveillance reports on training activities; develop and track corrective actions to closure * Remain current in field(s) of expertise and continually enhance knowledge and skills * Perform training administration tasks such as production of training materials, completion of training forms, and navigating the Client's Learning Management System (LMS) Additional Duties (Program-Specific) * Develop revisions to Scaffold Construction Training and implement classroom training and performance evaluations * Develop revisions to Scaffold Shift Inspection Training * Collaborate with a media/production partner to develop a new tele tower video for erecting and dismantling equipment * Develop a revision of the Competent Person for Scaffold Shift Inspection Training and conduct a train-the-trainer course * Develop revisions of the Incidental Rigging Training and Advanced Incidental Rigging Training, and conduct train-the-trainer courses for each * As time allows, assist with development and revision of Job Performance Measures (JPMs) for material handling equipment Work Schedule A 40-hour work week, with flexible scheduling options available (5/8s, 4/10s, or 9/80s), excluding company holidays. Each workday includes a 30-minute lunch. Overtime may be required at times to meet deliverables, at management's discretion. Education & Experience (one of the following): * High School Diploma + 12 years of relevant experience in education or the field being instructed, OR 10 years of relevant facility operations experience * Associate's Degree + 8 years of relevant experience in education or the field being instructed * Bachelor's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience in education or the field being instructed Preferred Qualifications * Active DOE clearance (L or Q) held within the past two (2) years * Bachelor's Degree * 2+ years of training and/or education experience * Significant knowledge of Client site processes, policies, and procedures * Familiarity with applicable federal laws, DOE Orders, and training administrative guides * Demonstrated ability to develop measurably effective training materials from subject matter expert (SME) input, procedures, and technical documentation * Substantial experience applying a systematic approach to training design and evaluation Preferred Technical Experience: * 10+ years of specialized experience as a qualified/certified Rigger or Mobile Crane Operator * Substantial expertise in rigging and crane operations, standards, and practices * Knowledge of the Client's Learning Management System (LMS) * Familiarity with lesson content, concept generalization, and application to rigging/crane equipment operations * Strong organizational skills * Familiarity with task-to-training analysis and proficiency in curriculum development * Familiarity with applicable federal laws, DOE Orders, and site policies concerning training and rigging/crane equipment operations * Ability to demonstrate exemplary task performance and evaluate student performance * Current or eligible instructor qualification per applicable training manual * Working knowledge of site hoisting and rigging standards/manuals
