Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Temporary Training Officer to support the development, standardization, and implementation of staff training programs within a juvenile justice environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring employees receive consistent, up-to-date training that aligns with organizational policies, operational procedures, and professional standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong training and curriculum development experience, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff at all levels.

In this role, you will evaluate existing training processes, develop standardized training materials, establish systems for tracking employee training records, and create procedures to ensure staff remain current on required training. You will also help develop mechanisms for communicating new and revised policies, documenting training deficiencies, and coordinating retraining efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for a training professional who enjoys building sustainable programs and improving workforce development practices.

Essential Duties
  • Standardize initial and refresher training curricula to ensure consistency and compliance with established standards.
  • Assess current training programs and identify opportunities for improvement and increased effectiveness.
  • Develop, pilot, and implement processes for distributing newly developed or revised policies and procedures to staff.
  • Establish and maintain mechanisms for obtaining, tracking, and monitoring staff training records.
  • Collaborate with facility training personnel to ensure employees remain current on required training.
  • Create and implement systems to document employee training deficiencies and retraining requirements.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and recommend solutions to address identified gaps.
  • Develop training materials, instructional resources, and curriculum content for various training initiatives.
  • Coordinate and deliver formal training sessions as needed.
  • Prepare reports, recommendations, and documentation related to training activities and program outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with management and staff to support continuous improvement in employee development and training programs.
  • Perform other training-related duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field; and
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in employee training and development, including conducting training needs assessments, planning and developing curriculum, and coordinating and conducting formal training;

OR

  • High school diploma or equivalent; and
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in employee training and development, including conducting training needs assessments, planning and developing curriculum, and coordinating and conducting formal training.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and employee development programs.
  • Experience developing and implementing training curricula and instructional materials.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training needs assessments and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Excellent organizational and project coordination abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and develop tracking systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software applications.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with stakeholders and staff.
Additional Information
  • Compensation: $33.66 per hour
  • Schedule: Up to 40 hours per week, as needed
