Job description

Role: Morgan Foods, Inc. (MFI) is seeking a Trainer-Human Resources Specialist to support our Austin, IN facility.

Early- to mid-career professionals (3–10 years of experience) with a passion for employee development, training, and operational excellence will find a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a stable and growing manufacturing organization.

This full-time, onsite position is highly operational in nature and supports a 3-shift manufacturing facility. The Trainer-Human Resources Specialist reports to the HR Manager. Approximately 80% of this role is spent on the manufacturing floor supporting employees and operations. This is not a desk-based training or traditional HR administrative position. This role is responsible for ensuring employees are effectively trained, qualified, and capable of performing their jobs safely and successfully in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support for all organizational training initiatives, which broadly include direct operational PSOP training, GMP training, food safety training, food quality training, EHS training, Lean, IT-Technology, and HR-related training and professional development initiatives
  • Serve as the primary plant floor training resource supporting food safety, employee safety, and food quality standards.
  • Act as subject matter expert for training and employee development.
  • Evaluate training and development needs across departments and recommend effective training solutions within a broader organizational training agenda.
  • Partner with supervisors and managers to identify skill gaps and workforce training and development opportunities.
  • Develop training curricula with learning materials and facilitate engaging, multimodal training using a person-centered, coaching approach.
  • Partner with and coordinate training opportunities with outside training consultants.
  • Maintain training records, PSOPs, and related compliance documentation for company audits.
  • Conduct regular plant floor observations and PSOP audits to evaluate plant floor training effectiveness.
  • Monitor, analyze and report training effectiveness through audits, metrics, and
  • Human Resources SQF and HACCP core team member.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and special projects related to workforce capability and organizational development
  • Fulfills other activities as required to fulfill the requirements of the role.
  • Works independently, while a contributing member of a larger human resources team.

Physical Requirements: The Trainer-Human Resources Specialist role will have a heavy presence on the manufacturing floor. Frequently walk, stand, climb, twist, reach, bend, use hands/fingers/wrists to manipulate computer keyboard and other equipment. Ability to lift 20 lbs.

Environmental Requirements: Ability to work in the following environments: Office- climate controlled; Manufacturing Plant - not climate controlled with variable temperatures

Communication Requirements: Ability to read, understand, write, and communicate work instructions, policies, safety rules, and quality standards. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be comfortable facilitating classroom and hands-on training, presenting information to groups, and building effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Scheduling & Availability: The primary schedule for the role is Mon-Fri, 8-5pm. Flexibility is required to support the 2nd and 3rd shifts and occasionally weekends

Education/Training/Skills/Experience/Personal Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree required, emphasis in human resources, training, organizational leadership, organizational management, or similar. Substitution for college degree or emphasis area may be considered with adequate level of training experience and training knowledge.
  • Certification: Certified Professional Training Management or ability to successfully gain within 18 months of hire.
  • Manufacturing operations experience required, food manufacturing desired
  • Demonstrated experience in training or developing employees in a manufacturing, warehousing, or operations environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, technology, presentation)
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching/training adult learners.
  • Ability to build credibility and working relationships with frontline employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Ability to speak, write, and understand English, secondary language skills Spanish, highly desired.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn training management, HRIS, and learning management systems

Preferred Qualifications. Must be able to successfully attain after hire.
