Job description

This position is located in the DEA, Operations Division, Office of Training (OT), International Section (TRI), Mobile Unit A (OTIA).
This position primary purpose is to serve as Instructor and Course Developer in the field of foreign law enforcement training to include Firearms, Small Unit Tactics and Close Quarter Combat, Evasive Driving, Land Navigation, Personnel Recovery (PR), Survival Techniques and Systems, Human Intelligence, and Operational Planning.Qualifications:For more information on eligibility requirements see: DEA Employment Eligibility
Applicants must meet the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of the announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcripts with your application.
Basic Qualification Requirements:
Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled;
OR
Experience: General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that provided evidence of the ability to instruct students in the use of equipment, principles, or practices of the subject or occupation. This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles, practices, and techniques of the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled.
AND
Applicants applying for the GS-13 must meet one of the following requirements:
A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Updating existing training materials, lesson plans, and practical exercises to support current operational requirements; 2) Compiling and analyzing evaluation data and preparing recommendations; 3) Assisting with course logistics, including student registration, training materials, travel coordination and facility arrangements; 4) Conducting lectures, demonstrations and hands-on exercises while ensuring student safety and adhere to training requirements; 5) Administering written and practical examinations, eluates student performance and providing constructive feedback to improve proficiency, and; 6) Delivering classroom and practical instruction in assigned subject areas including firearms, close quarter combat, evasive driving, land navigation, surveillance detection and related topics.
