Job description

The Bridge offers supportive housing and behavioral health services to vulnerable New Yorkers facing behavioral health and substance use challenges. We provide individuals with the tools they need to pursue their dreams and live meaningful lives. As a recognized leader in developing and operating supportive housing and community-based programs, The Bridge has 70 years of experience helping New Yorkers with mental illness, including those affected by homelessness, incarceration, and institutionalization.  

Scope of Position: The Director of Training and Staff Development, reporting to the Vice President of Quality Improvement, Evaluation, and Training, serves as the strategic leader and an integral member of all agency-wide training initiatives. This role supports staff working with adults experiencing serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and psychosocial challenges across The Bridge’s comprehensive system of care, including outreach, day programming, clinical services, and supportive housing. As a key member of the Quality Improvement, Compliance, and Training Department, the Director leads training and quality improvement efforts that align with funder requirements, regulatory standards, and stakeholder expectations, while promoting trauma-informed, client-centered care throughout the organization.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Manage the training calendar and facilitate skill-based professional development sessions on behavioral health, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented practices.
  • Play an integral role in the creation, delivery, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all organizational training initiatives.
  • Design, implement, and update core curriculum and customized training modules based on needs assessments, incident trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Participate in clinical case reviews.
  • Maintain training records and prepare reports analyzing effectiveness, participation rates, and outcome measures.
  • Supervise the Training Specialist and lead cross-departmental collaboration to foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in behavioral health or training development.
  • Proven track record in training program design and delivery, with experience in quality improvement and program evaluation.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and produce clear training materials and reports.
  • Deep knowledge of trauma-informed care, recovery-based practices, and integrated behavioral health models.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems, presentation software, and data analysis tools.
  • Self-directed, collaborative, culturally humble, and flexible, with strong relationship-building skills across departments and with diverse stakeholders.
