Job Summary
The Training Specialist delivers instructor-led computer training programs to public sector employees throughout Louisiana under university-sponsored workforce development and contractual training initiatives. The incumbent provides classroom instruction in Microsoft Office applications, Windows operating systems, file management, and related technology topics; develops and updates course materials; customizes training programs to meet agency needs; and serves as a primary training resource for state and local government clients.
This position requires extensive statewide travel, strong presentation and facilitation skills, and the ability to independently deliver both foundational and advanced computer application training.Job Description

Essential Functions

Training Delivery (80-85%)

  • Deliver instructor-led computer training workshops to public sector employees throughout Louisiana.

  • Teach courses in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and related technologies.

  • Provide instruction in Windows operating systems, computer file management, internet research techniques, and other end-user technology topics.

  • Adapt instructional methods to meet the needs of participants with varying levels of technical proficiency.

  • Facilitate hands-on classroom exercises and provide individual assistance during training sessions.

  • Evaluate participant learning outcomes and adjust instructional approaches as needed.

  • Maintain high levels of customer service and professionalism while representing the university and training program.

Curriculum Development and Program Support (10-15%)

  • Develop, revise, and update training materials, exercises, participant guides, and instructor resources.

  • Research new software features, technologies, and instructional methodologies.

  • Design customized training programs based on agency and organizational needs.

  • Assist with assessment of training effectiveness and identification of future training opportunities.

  • Maintain course content to reflect current software versions and industry standards.

Program Administration and Outreach (5-10%)

  • Coordinate travel logistics and training delivery schedules throughout Louisiana.

  • Communicate with agency contacts regarding course offerings, training requirements, and participant needs.

  • Maintain training records, attendance documentation, and program reports.

  • Assist in promoting training services and supporting contractual relationships with public sector partners.

  • Participate in professional development to maintain current technical knowledge and instructional expertise.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to travel.

  • Computer training background in current versions of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Applications.

  • Frequent travel throughout the state of Louisiana.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.

  • Previous experience with technical training in the public sector.

  • Background in hardware and software installation/troubleshooting andmaintenance of personal computers.
