Job description

At Vertiv, the Training Specialist plays a key role in building and scaling training programs that support a growing, global manufacturing workforce. This role focuses on designing structured, consistent, and effective learning experiences that accelerate skill development and improve operational performance.
You won't just support training; you'll help shape how it works.
This position is based at our Pelzer SC facilities and required to travel between facilities when needed.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve training programs that support manufacturing operations and business goals

  • Assess learning needs and translate them into structured training solutions, including curriculum, learning paths, and training materials

  • Develop and standardize training content, processes, and frameworks to ensure consistency and scalability across teams and locations

  • Analyze training data, learner feedback, and performance trends to identify gaps and drive measurable improvements

  • Partner with business leaders and key stakeholders to align training initiatives with organizational priorities

  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to capture technical knowledge and convert it into effective learning experiences

  • Design and implement training for new products to support timely and effective workforce readiness

  • Deliver Train-the-Trainer sessions and support development of training team members

  • Review and approve training documentation, labs, and On-the-Job Training (OJT) materials; support development of team capability in OJT creation

  • Assess trainer performance through audits and evaluations; document findings and provide coaching to close gaps

  • Develop and maintain training documentation, processes, and standards to improve consistency and efficiency

  • Create and analyze surveys and reporting to evaluate training effectiveness

  • Manage LMS-related activities, including enrollments, reporting, and communication of training requirements and updates

  • Support hourly and salaried training programs as needed

  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including local schools and state agencies

  • Travel between facilities to support training needs and stakeholder engagement

  • Cross-train across training functions to support a well-rounded and adaptable training program

Qualifications
  • Experience in Learning & Development, training program design, or a related field within a manufacturing or technical environment

  • Strong ability to design, organize, and improve training programs that support operational and business goals

  • Proven experience assessing learning needs and developing structured training solutions

  • Solid understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning concepts, and blended learning approaches

  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), survey tools, and content development platforms

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive improvements

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly across all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, guide, and support others without direct authority

  • Experience working with Subject Matter Experts and cross-functional teams

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kanban, or similar)

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with a strong working knowledge of its features and functions.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
The Training Specialist role at Vertiv operates across both office and manufacturing environments. This position includes a mix of standing, walking, and sitting throughout the day while supporting training delivery and program implementation.
This role may require:
  • Frequent movement between offices, training rooms, and manufacturing areas

  • Standing for extended periods during training sessions

  • Occasional lifting of materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs)

  • Use of standard office and training technology

  • Wearing required PPE, including safety glasses and steel-toe shoes, in operational environments

The work environment includes both climate-controlled spaces and active production areas with noise, machinery, and varying temperatures. Adherence to all safety protocols is required.
