Job Overview
The Director, National Training & Development (Sales) is responsible for designing & leading sector-wide sales training & effectiveness based on standardized, repeatable processes. This position will also assist in the creation and evaluation of new and existing training programs. This position should have the ability to analyze the impact of sales training by assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the organization's training plans and modify it to continuously improve new sales productivity (close ratio, install size and revenue). This position works with all levels of management to achieve sales training goals and ties training to the organization's Mission and Vision statements. The Director, National Training & Development will assemble and manage a team of training professionals that help create and implement programs in support of various functions across the sector utilizing a variety of delivery methods in order to ensure learning and reinforcement of organizational objectives and operational goals in field sales.
This is a remote role with the ability to travel 75%
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
  • Directs and leads a team of Regional Sales Trainers
  • Works closely with Senior Management, functional leaders and field managers to ensure quality sales training programs are developed, customized, approved, maintained, revised and properly documented, as required
  • Manage national training initiatives and pro-actively identifies and prepares for change management strategies
  • Organizes and facilitates Vestis Strategic Selling (VSS) instructor led courses on a rotating basis as needed in addition to one-on-one training in the field and in the Market Centers environments
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts or other instructional staff by researching and analyzing subject matter, processes, concepts and products to determine and design the appropriate instructional offerings as training content; develops custom and standardized training curriculum specific to the target audience, including training setup guide, instructor and student manuals, sample exercises, and assessments, as applicable
  • Develops and uses appropriate training methodologies to communicate information clearly, concisely and in accordance with target audience needs; appropriately applies adult learning theories; creates a motivational, inspiring learning experience that transfers back to the work environment; finds creative solutions to assist employees in learning required materials across a diverse population
  • Collaborates with the Learning and Development Organization around Sales Training content development
  • Responsible for adhering to sales training budget
  • Effectively and clearly communicates proper sales onboarding & sales training techniques to Sales Managers and ensures execution at both the National & Regional level
  • Works with the Learning and Development Organization to develop a region sales training plan that aligns sales training resources on "core" and "near-core" industries to increase close ratio, install size and new business revenue
  • Builds a sales learning & development culture at the national and regional level
  • Identifies the knowledge and skills that align with desired new behaviors and understands the impact of his and/or her training skills on his and/or her facilitation style and use these strengths to facilitate effectively
  • Audits compliance of Sales Professional's and Sales Manager Onboarding
  • Participates in Account Executive and Sales Manager field ride-along sessions for the purpose of providing on-going direct training, coaching and facilitation. Completes written field ride follow-up memos and/or trip reports identifying strengths and areas for improvement and will provide feedback to the appropriate region management teams (Regional Sales Director (RSD), Sales Manager (SM), Regional Vice President, (RVP) and General Manager (GM)
  • Assists in the training of Salesforce.com to all Vestis sales professionals and leadership (Account Executives, Sales Managers, Regional Sales Directors and Regional Vice Presidents). This training will need to drive understanding and use of all key sales metric reports including PMP, TDA, etc
  • Thoroughly understands the mechanics and effective use of the Salesforce.com prospect management system. Will specifically instruct Sales Managers in the use of Salesforce.com dashboards and other data driven information to manage region sales professional performance
  • Works with regional sales teams as well as operational leadership teams to drive productivity through effective and efficient marketing and training support. Will participate in the training and implementation of marketing programs or promotion roll-outs
  • Works with region leadership to ensure new sales hires fit the appropriate profile
  • Assists in the training of the sales department with performance analysis checklists to identify the difference(s) between actual and desired performance, the cause of discrepancy, and provide suggestions on actions to address the causes whether training related or not
  • Utilizes a variety of effective training methodologies and should have demonstrated enthusiasm for training in order to motivate others to learn
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Superior interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals
  • Proven ability in auditing compliance with field sales programs
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal direction
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively influence multiple management levels and simultaneously manage diverse agendas
  • Knowledge and understanding of the essentials sales processes
  • Understanding of sales and field operations
  • Demonstrated ability in presenting various programs to field personnel
  • Proven knowledge of auditing compliance of field sales onboarding and sales training processes
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Good organizational skills and must be able to prioritize
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office including: Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint

Experience/Qualifications
  • 5+ years sales training experience and/or 5+ years experience presenting various training programs to field personnel
  • 5+ years of Management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years experience in business-to-business field sales training is preferred but not required
