Job description

The VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) invites applications for a full-time, Board-Certified (or Board-Eligible) Staff Endocrinologist. Help us serve our nation’s Veterans—America’s Heroes—at a leading Level 1a, tertiary medical center in the Pacific Northwest.

Work alongside a team of three full-time endocrinologists, and one advanced practice provider. The selected candidate will have the opportunity for a faculty appointment at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), participating in education and mentoring for residents, fellows, and other trainees.

About the Opportunity:

  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centered general endocrinology care in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting
  • Contribute to an active research environment; many team members are grant-supported investigators
  • Engage in teaching and supervision of residents, fellows, and students in partnership with OHSU
  • Enjoy involvement at a facility recognized for both clinical and academic excellence—VAPORHCS hosts approximately 2,000 health professions learners annually and is among the top 10 VA sites for research funding

Our Practice: VAPORHCS serves more than 100,000 Veterans every year, providing a full continuum of inpatient, outpatient, long-term, and emergent care. As a complex, Magnet-recognized facility, we are also a major referral center for liver and renal transplants, serving the western United States.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Board Certified/Eligible in Endocrinology (ABIM)
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any state or territory of the US
  • US citizenship required (non-citizens may be considered if no qualified US citizen is selected)
  • Strong commitment to clinical care, education, and advancing professional excellence
  • Interest in team-oriented, Veteran-focused care

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
  • Generous paid leave: 26 days annual, 13 days sick, 11 federal holidays, plus 5 days for CME
  • Comprehensive insurance: health, dental, vision, life, long-term care, and flexible spending accounts
  • Federal retirement benefits: FERS, Social Security, Thrift Savings Plan with up to 5% matching
  • Annual CME stipend
  • Student loan repayment options
  • Favorable work-life balance with flexible/condensed scheduling available

Work Schedule: Full-time, M-F, Night, weekend, and holiday call one week every month (shared with fellows/residents).
