Job description

Business Technology Integrators (BTI) is a leading government contracting company based in Suburban Maryland. We specialize in delivering high-performance technology infrastructure solutions to federal agencies across the United States. We are currently seeking experienced Cable Installer/Technicians (Master Level) to support  VA contract.


Position Overview:

The Cable Installer/Technician (Master) will support VA facilities domestic travel with responsibilities focused on Inside Plant (ISP) systems. This role includes the design, inspection, installation, repair, expansion, and maintenance of all ISP infrastructure within VA hospitals and medical centers.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, install, configure, and maintain Inside Plant (ISP) infrastructure including:

    • Pathways and spaces

    • Entrance facilities

    • Telecommunications rooms

    • Racks, cabinets, and enclosures

    • Wall/floor penetrations and fire stopping

    • Grounding and bonding systems

    • Backbone and horizontal distribution (copper, fiber, and speaker wire)

  • Ensure all installations are compliant with:

    • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70 National Electric Code (NEC)

    • ANSI/TIA standards

    • BICSI Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM)

    • BICSI IT Systems Installation Methods Manual (ITSIMM)

  • Perform cable installation, testing, and troubleshooting in accordance with Government task orders and industry best practices.

  • Conduct acceptance testing and quality assurance inspections.

  • Assist in developing quality control checklists and evaluating new installations for compliance and performance.


Qualifications:

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years in maintenance or installation management.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience installing and repairing low voltage communications cabling systems.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing:

    • Category premise cabling

    • Outside plant copper telephone cable

    • Fiber optic cable

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • ANSI/TIA standards

    • BICSI methodologies (TDMM and ITSIMM)

    • NFPA 70 (NEC) and other applicable electrical/communications codes

Certifications (Required):

  • BICSI Installer Level 2 Copper (IN225)

  • BICSI Installer Level 2 Fiber (IN250)

  • BICSI Technician (TE350)

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel within the U.S. to VA medical facilities.

  • Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in varied indoor environments.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required background check or clearance as needed.
