Job description

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is recruiting a Vice Chair of Clinical Research to join our leadership team in Nashville, TN. The Vice Chair of Clinical Research will be responsible for leading and growing clinical and translational imaging research across the VUMC enterprise.


Position Highlights:

  • Clinical Research & Administration:
    • Develop and implement clinical and translational imaging research strategies aligned with department and organizational goals
    • Partner with departmental and organizational leaders to grow the clinical imaging research footprint
    • Manage and oversee daily clinical research operations
    • Foster a collaborative clinical research environment with internal and external stakeholders, including industry, government agencies, etc.
    • Develop and support mentoring pathways for trainees and junior faculty
  • Clinical & Teaching:
    • Partial clinical effort within a specialty or subspecialty
    • Participate in educational programs (i.e., lectures, conferences, teaching trainees, etc.)

Position Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience and a forward-looking vision for integrating Artificial Intelligence into clinical research are highly desirable
  • Clinical Educator or Investigator track with an active ongoing publication history consistent with this role
  • Established record of continuous industry and/or federal extramural funding as PI
  • Prior leadership experience within the academic setting
  • Hold an MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree
  • ABR certified
  • Eligible for TN license
  • On site role in Nashville
