Department of Physics, Arts and Science
New York University
The Department of Physics at New York University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Center for Quantum Phenomena (CQP). The start date is September 1, 2026, pending administrative and budgetary approval.
A successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in physics or a related discipline and will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels at NYU, while establishing a leading research program in theoretical quantum condensed-matter physics, quantum optics, quantum information sciences, or a related field.
Research programs in the CQP include terahertz spectroscopy of correlated materials, quantum optics and ultracold atoms, out-of-equilibrium and strongly driven quantum systems, topological phases, spintronics, Moire materials and color centers in wide-bandgap insulators. We seek candidates whose research will integrate with and enhance these efforts, while also establishing new and complementary directions in quantum science.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in physics or a related discipline, and one or more years of postdoctoral research experience is desirable. Candidates are expected to establish a leading research program in their field, as well as teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
