About the Opportunity

Job Summary

TheApfeldLab in the Biology Department at Northeastern University is seeking a technician to investigate how genes work together to determine the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans. Our lab integrates genetics, live imaging, quantitative analysis, and computational approaches to uncover the molecular mechanisms regulating aging and longevity.

Minimum Qualification

-Recent or upcoming bachelor's degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics/Genomics, Neurobiology/Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Microbiology.

-Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.

-Experience in molecular biology and with C. elegans genetics

-Strong verbal and written communication skills.

-Attention to detail and training in research methodology and quantitative data analysis.

Key Accountabilities & responsibilities :

The lab technician fellow will contribute to ongoing research projects exploring genetic interactions that influence lifespan, generate transgenic nematodes, perform lifespan assays, and assist in data analysis and publication of findings. Additional responsibilities include maintaining laboratory operations, preparing stock solutions and media, and mentoring undergraduate students.
