Trainee Medical Laboratory Technology Instructor Jobs

The position of Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Clinical Instructor conducts one-on-one instruction to students in the Medical Laboratory Technician Program for the School of Health Science and assists with various departmental duties in accordance with departmental objectives. This is a part-time, non-benefited position.

Responsibilities:

The MLT Clinical Instructor will assist with laboratory preparation, laboratory delivery to students, and clean-up of the laboratory after each session. Additionally, the clinical instructor will also perform laboratory skills check-offs, demonstrate laboratory procedures, and help prepare laboratory samples for diagnostic analysis.

• Demonstrate and teach patient care in the classroom and clinical setting to students; instruct students in principles and application of diagnostic laboratory testing.
• Support and assist students, supervise work, issue and assess assignments, and direct laboratory-based activities.
• Supervise students and demonstrate exemplary patient care in clinical and hospital environments.
• Prepare and administer examinations, evaluate student progress, and maintain records of student clinical experience.
• Maintain significant responsibility for others' health, safety, and the outcomes of their work.
• Complete accreditation activities as needed for the program
• Cooperate with medical and clinical personnel in evaluating and improving teaching and laboratory practices.
• Comply with all HIPAA and FERPA guidelines
• Maintain clinical compliance
• May substitute traditional classes for faculty at Casper College

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited institution in Medical Laboratory Sciences
• ASCP Certification, or equivalent professional certification
• Commitment to laboratory education
• Physical abilities to meet the demands of the position
• Must be eligible for hire at any Casper College Program clinical settings
• Must be able to pass a background check and meet immunization requirements

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledge, or interest in acquiring knowledge, about methodology for traditional and alternative instruction and the application of technologies

Work Environment:

Work is primarily performed in a clinical, laboratory, simulation center and/or classroom setting. Work is usually performed during the normal workday; however, early morning, late evening and weekend work may be required. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors traveling between campus buildings in various weather conditions. Travel to clinical sites is required. Due to clinical settings, this position may experience exposure to diseases and infections.

Physical Demands:

Employees must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time; speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computers; feel, and reach with hands and arms; and transfer patients. Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required. Work requires providing assistance or personal care to others, handling and moving objects, and other general physical activities.
