Cardiac Device Trainee

Part of the HCA Midwest Health's Midwest Heart and Vascular Institute, Kansas City Heart Rhythm Institute offers arrhythmia testing and treatment from the most basic to the most complex and advanced.

We bring the highest quality clinical care, research and arrhythmia education to Kansas City and the region. Our doctors are industry leaders in research and development. Our team of electrophysiologists is headed by Dhanunjaya Lakkireddy, MD, FACC, FHRS, an internationally renowned leader in electrophysiology research and education.

This position offers entry into a structured 1 to 2-year Device Technician Training Program designed to develop advanced expertise in cardiac rhythm management and implantable cardiac devices.

The role blends self-paced learning, classroom instruction, and hands-on clinical training, preparing candidates to independently:

  • Interpret cardiac rhythms
  • Perform device interrogations
  • Troubleshoot and optimize device function

The program is a tiered internal growth pathway, leading to HCA certification and progressive salary advancement.

What you will do in this role:

  • Perform and interpret device checks on:
  1. Loop recorders
  2. Pacemakers
  3. Implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs)
  4. Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices
  • Evaluate and respond to device alerts and transmissions
  • Complete MRI clearance assessments
  • Provide patient education on device operation and safety
  • Assist with patient communication and scheduling
  • Perform EKGs as needed
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize device programming

What qualifications you will need:

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • ≥1 year of direct patient care experience
  • Background in telemetry or cardiac rhythm monitoring
