Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN with critical care experience for a night shift assignment requiring floating between PICU and NICU.

Details
  • Pediatric float pool position at a Magnet-recognized children's hospital
  • Floats primarily between PICU and NICU units
  • Cares for pediatric patients with acute, intermediate, oncology, neonatal, and critical care needs
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Patient ratio of 1-2:4
  • Floating required to various pediatric units within the hospital and possibly affiliate hospitals nearby
  • Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active RN license (Standard or Compact) required
  • Active OR license required
  • Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Minimum 2 years of critical care nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, care of ventilated patients, tracheostomy care, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, infection control/PPE, insulin administration, isolation precautions, pediatric dosage calculations, and urinary catheter insertion/management
  • ICP monitoring experience preferred
  • Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (Charge RN references not accepted)
  • COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted
  • Background check required with no tolerance for background or license issues
Additional Information
  • Provide nursing care across a spectrum of pediatric units including Pediatric Acute Care Surgical, Pediatric Acute Care Medical, Pediatric Intermediate Care, Pediatric Oncology, PICU, and NICU
  • Care for patients ranging from surgical, cardiology, and trauma cases to neurosurgery, oncology, and critical care neonates
  • Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no mile radius restriction
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and cannot exceed 2 weeks
  • Former OHSU employees or previous travelers must have a completed reference from their OHSU supervising manager
  • Candidates must be gone from the facility for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
