Fuel Filtering Technician
Department: Service Operations
Reports To: CEO
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
Genset Holdings is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fuel Filtering Technician to perform fuel filtration, fuel polishing, contamination removal, fuel testing, and preventive maintenance services for diesel fuel systems supporting generators, storage tanks, and mission-critical power equipment.
The Fuel Filtering Technician is responsible for ensuring fuel quality, reliability, and compliance by identifying and correcting contamination issues such as water intrusion, microbial growth, sediment, sludge, and degraded fuel conditions. This position requires field service work, customer interaction, technical troubleshooting, and adherence to all safety and environmental regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform fuel filtering and fuel polishing services on diesel fuel storage tanks and generator fuel systems.
  • Test and evaluate fuel quality using sampling and analysis procedures.
  • Identify fuel contamination including water, sludge, particulates, microbial growth, and fuel degradation.
  • Operate filtration, fuel transfer, and polishing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Remove contaminants and restore fuel quality to operational standards.
  • Replace fuel filters, water separators, and related fuel system components.
  • Inspect tanks, pumps, piping, valves, and fuel delivery systems for operational integrity.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on fuel storage and fuel handling equipment.
  • Prepare detailed service reports documenting inspections, testing results, corrective actions, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations.
  • Follow company safety procedures and proper PPE requirements at all times.
  • Maintain service vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean and operational condition.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding work performed and recommended corrective actions.
  • Respond to scheduled, emergency, and after-hours service calls when required.
  • Assist generator technicians and other service personnel as needed.
Qualifications
Required


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, fuel systems, diesel engines, power generation, or related field service work.
  • Basic understanding of diesel fuel systems and fuel contamination issues.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple service assignments.
Preferred
  • Experience performing fuel polishing or fuel filtration services.
  • Experience in power generation or generator service industries.
  • Knowledge of fuel storage tank maintenance and environmental compliance.
  • Forklift certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, kneel, squat, and climb ladders.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and industrial environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and respiratory protection when necessary.
Work Environment
  • Frequent travel to customer locations throughout South Florida and surrounding service areas.
  • Exposure to diesel fuel, fuel additives, cleaning agents, and industrial equipment.
  • Occasional evening, weekend, and emergency response work may be required.
  • Combination of field, warehouse, and customer-site work environments.
