Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Trainer, ClaimAssist is responsible for training associates on the billing functions ClaimAssist conducts on behalf of its clients, company policies and practices, including the use of technical systems, HIPAA as well as other industry governing laws and statutes, client procedures, and expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts associate training programs for new hires and existing associates to successfully bill Third Party Liability claims, resolve Denials, various components of the Revenue Cycle, CCS/ClaimAssist policies, and practices, including the use of technical systems.
  • Keeps current and up to date on billing regulations, client expectations, policies, procedures and industry techniques.
  • Oversees the 30 day, in person, onboarding process for all new hires.
  • Monitors performance of trained associates as well as existing staff to assess current/additional training needs and help create/develop training materials as needed. 
  • Monitors associate’s schedules, attendance, and payroll or performance issues during training and administer appropriate coaching or escalate as appropriate.   
  • Responsible for daily supervision of all associates attending training classes being facilitated.
  • Works closely with the department manager(s) to ensure department standards are met.
  • Continuously challenges and coach new and existing staff to maximize performance and call service.
  • Follows approved training outlines and techniques for classes assigned and provide feedback to management to improve training experiences and outcomes for individual training, group instruction, meetings, and workshops.
  • Helps to create teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and on-line reference tools.
  • Provides feedback to management regarding the effectiveness of teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and on-line reference tools.
  • Updates and maintains training materials for ClaimAssist including training manuals, presentations, Opsnet testing and memo announcements.
  • Works with management, supervisors, and associates to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulation, business initiatives, and technologies.
  • Delivers testing modules and test trainees to measure progress and to evaluate the effectiveness of training.
  • Evaluates and report on the progress of associates under guidance during training periods.
  • Makes continual suggestions on process improvements, work procedures to be reviewed with management as they arise from training sessions.
  • Maintains trainee personnel records.
  • Manages and works on projects assigned and meet prescribed timelines, develop, and meet objectives. Communicating the status of active projects timely. 
  • Other duties as required by Manager
  • Ability to maintain a consistent and regular attendance in accordance with an established schedule.
  • Ability to work onsite/in-office and in accordance with CCS and department policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in ClaimAssist processes and procedures and/or 3rd party liability, denials and revenue cycle is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of related training experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Good understanding of the ClaimAssist process in relation to customer service expectations and ClaimAssist policies.
  • Experience using Meditech, CERNER and EPIC billing platforms is preferred.
  • Collection experience required. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical data, safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to develop and proof of training materials. 
  • Ability to speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of employees.
  • Present a professional demeanor.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of institutional and professional billing practices, HIPAA and regulations
  • Must display patience with new and existing associates and must be able to train by adapting to their learning style. 
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Ability to problem solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team and be comfortable communicating with all levels of management and associates. 
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. 
  • Continue to develop presentation and facilitation skills. 
  • Knowledge of FACS system, Application Extender, and Microsoft Office required. 
  • Ability to learn new software systems as required.
  • Ability to Successfully Apply Feedback: Being receptive to feedback, willing to learn, embracing continuous improvement and is receptive and responsive to change

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
