Position: Associate Director, Gladstone Park Conference Center
Employment Category: Full-Time, Exempt (Salaried)
Department: Gladstone Park Conference Center
Reports to: GPCC Director
Job Overview: The Gladstone Park Conference Center (GPCC), its grounds and buildings, is intended to be used by the Oregon Conference and its constituent churches and schools for events that further the mission and vision of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The GPCC also may be made available to other non-profit groups and associations and to government entities to the extent that such use does not conflict with the needs, mission, and vision of the Church. With this goal for the GPCC, the role of the GPCC Associate Director is to manage and supervise the overall daily work for the grounds and buildings.
General Responsibilities: The Associate Director's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties and areas.
  • Team leader for all functions required of the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and landscaping.
  • Work hands-on with grounds manager and grounds staff on campus projects, including minor plumbing, electrical, metalworking, carpentry issues, handling interior and exterior cleaning, painting, wall patching, and floor care.
  • Assist the GPCC Director in developing and implementing ling-range grounds maintenance plans.
  • Directly oversee work processes for the grounds manager and grounds staff.
  • Directly supervise team of grounds staff and seasonal laborers, working with the Human Resources department in hiring and staffing plans.
  • Assist GPCC Director in developing and managing the departmental operating budget, including forecasting and fiscal management.
  • Assist GPCC Director with negotiating and managing facility service agreements and contracts with outside landscaping or maintenance companies.
  • Perform routine inspections of building systems like HVAC, lighting, and fire safety equipment to identify maintenance needs or potential hazards.

Other
  • Attend Conference staff and departmental meetings as requested.
  • Participate in presenting/leading out in office worship rotation schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong ability to solve problems with equipment and building needs.
  • Able to adapt to work efficiently with changing work priorities; meeting deadlines and schedules.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office systems.

Education/Experience:
Must have prior work experience commensurate with the position.
Employment Conditions/Physical Requirements: The majority of the Associate Directors time will be working in varied environments either in at a worksite setting or working at a desk.
  • Significant = Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
  • Frequent = Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, significant fine finger dexterity, lifting and moving of supplies and equipment will be necessary.
  • Occasional = Some climbing and balancing.

Other: The Oregon Conference hires Seventh-day Adventist Church members in regular standing based on religious preferences permitted by the United States Constitution and controlling law. The placement of all Associate Director level positions is voted on and approved by the Oregon Conference Executive Committee.
Elected Office Position: All positions of employment for department director and associate department director in the Oregon Conference are elected and confirmed by the Oregon Conference Executive Committee. This committee is elected every five years by the Oregon Conference constituency and are tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the operation of the Conference during the five-year term. Employment in this position is a recognition by the Executive Committee of your leadership abilities and your sacred calling to support the Seventh-day Adventist Church in sharing the Gospel within our territory.
