Commercial Flooring Helper
Learn a Skilled Trade. Build a Career. Grow With Us.
Jack Laurie Group is looking for motivated, hardworking individuals to join our Fort Wayne Commercial Flooring team as a Flooring Helper (Apprentice). If you enjoy working with your hands, want to learn a skilled trade, and are looking for a career instead of just another job, this is your opportunity.
You'll work side-by-side with experienced flooring professionals on commercial projects throughout Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana, learning the skills needed to become a Commercial Flooring Installer. We provide the training-you bring the work ethic and willingness to learn.
Location: Fort Wayne, IN
Pay: $16.00-$20.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Full-TimeHours vary by project

Every experienced installer started somewhere. At Jack Laurie Group, you'll gain hands-on experience installing flooring in schools, hospitals, office buildings, athletic facilities, manufacturing plants, and other commercial spaces throughout Northeast Indiana.

What You'll Do
Working alongside experienced installers, you'll learn every aspect of commercial flooring installation, including:
  • Assist with the installation of:
    • Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT)
    • Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP)
    • Carpet Tile
    • Broadloom (Stretch) Carpet
    • Sheet Vinyl
    • Rubber Flooring
    • Other commercial flooring systems
  • Prepare floors and job sites for installation.
  • Load, unload, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Learn floor preparation, layout, measuring, cutting, fitting, and finishing techniques.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Travel to commercial job sites throughout Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana.
  • Learn from experienced Foremen and Installers every day.

Qualifications include:
  • 1-3 years of construction, flooring, or related trade experience preferred (not required).
  • Willingness to learn a skilled trade.
  • Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in your work.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
