What is the opportunity?
The Portfolio Implementation Team (PIT) Team acts as the primary group supporting UMA portfolio model management across the RBC US Wealth Management distribution channel. The PIT Team exists to manage the daily and ongoing operational and trading responsibilities associated with portfolio model management. The role of Portfolio Implementation Analyst adds value to RBC in a highly competitive industry by providing the appropriate level of support to ensure that investment strategies delivered by investment managers (either internal or external) are properly executed, according to the outlined policies and procedures. The role of Portfolio Implementation Analyst is responsible for all day-to-day planning, decision making and execution of the Portfolio Implementation Team trading processes for various model portfolios, both externally and internally delivered. The role of Portfolio Implementation Analyst aligns directly to the RBC Wealth Management overall strategy of client service.
What will you do?
Relationship Management
  • Assist with on-boarding of internal/external model providers
  • Interact with internal/external model providers to ensure accurate and timely model portfolio change processing.
  • Working with internal/external model providers to ensure smooth communications and timely and accurate exchange of information.
  • Working with internal/external model providers and other partners to optimize trading process while reducing risk and potential for error.

Portfolio Management
Involved in performing Portfolio Implementation Team operations and trading duties including:
  • Critical source in supporting the day-to-day portfolio management and trade processing of various model portfolios, both externally and internally delivered, through exceptional client service, leadership and execution.
  • Implement new account asset allocation and investment fulfillment.
  • Implement and monitor client specific constraints and guidelines.
  • Account re-balancing and update according to internal/external model providers and asset-class weights.
  • Facilitate cash flows, contributions and withdrawals.
  • Monitor asset allocation guidelines.
  • Monitor model drift and dispersion.
  • Model management and allocation monitoring.
  • Monitor corporate actions and reorganizations for their timely and accurate implementation.
  • New account processing and approval.
  • Terminated account processing.
  • Assist and review portfolio risks.
  • Research any significant or unexpected dispersion.
  • Calculate and coordinate trade error correction efforts/analysis and processing.

Project / Initiative Management
Support PIT leadership in managing the audit and reporting process for various model portfolios, both externally and internally delivered, including:
  • Assist with creation and maintenance of department procedures.
  • Develop and maintain risk management practices that limit risk exposure to the Portfolio Implementation Team and RBC.
  • Establish processes to anticipate market trends.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement process changes to achieve the greatest efficiency and quality possible.
  • Review procedures and systems are maximized and that IAG management reporting is timely and accurate.
  • Provide daily, monthly, and quarterly report generation process (i.e., daily activity report, 13f, PIT Operating Report, etc.). Gather data, analyze and report information.
  • Assist with cash level review, security drift review and audit code review.
  • Provide ad hoc projects as required.

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • 3 -5 years of securities and financial markets experience with a focus on portfolio administration, portfolio management, investment operations or trading support roles.
  • BA / BS in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
  • Series 7, 63/65 or 66 (or ability to obtain licenses within prescribed timeframe).
  • Basic understanding of the broker/dealer industry, the distribution channels served, managed accounts, trade practices and portfolio rebalancing.
  • Experience with Envestnet or other portfolio accounting and portfolio management systems.
  • Experience with equities, fixed income, mutual funds and ETFs.
  • Experience in working with sub-advisors within a multi-manager offering
  • Strong computer skills - specifically Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Proficient business math skills.

Nice-to-have
  • Prior portfolio accounting reconciliation trade processing experience.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $55,000-$95,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
