Trades Staff HVAC Technician, Facilities

Position Summary: The Trades Staff HVAC Technician reports to the Trades Supervisor and Assistant Director of Facilities-Operations and is a key support position for maintaining the physical plant of the school.

Specific Duties include:
  • Responsible for the maintenance and PM’s of split systems, water source heat pumps, cooling towers, air handlers, rooftop package units and all HVAC equipment.
  • Responsible for maintenance and PM’s of all Trades systems of the school under the supervision of the proper tradesman as assigned by the Trades Supervisor, Assistant Director or Director.
  • Responsible for the repair and/or replacement of outdoor street lighting and poles.
  • Responsible for procuring and maintaining supplies.
  • Responsible for adherence to safety regulations and practices of facilities staff and may lead safety meetings at the request of the Assistant Director.
  • Responsible for maintaining comprehensive records of work performed.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Woodward Academy assigned vehicle and its contents.
  • Responsible for maintaining specific physical plant repair center information in TMA database including input/closing of daily work orders, input of preventative maintenance and reporting maintenance of comprehensive records of work performed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Facilities, and/or the Facilities Director
Required Skills
  • Ability to successfully work independently unsupervised and exercise self discipline.
  • Ability to successfully work with diverse individuals in an educational environment, excellent customer service skills are a must.
  • Able to analyze situations to determine if repair work may be needed on equipment and provide this information to the Trades Supervisor or Assistant Director of Facilities.
  • Able to lift 60 lbs. perform physical arm and shoulder tasks, work in confined spaces, and work in inclement weather.
  • Must have the ability to climb step ladders and extension ladders.
  • Must have the ability to operate and work in lifts of all types including single man, scissor lifts, and articulating lifts.
  • Basic electrical knowledge a must.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current valid Georgia Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record

The Trades Staff HVAC Technician position is a non-exempt, full time, twelve month position.
