The Trade Planning Analyst supports the development, execution, and analysis of customer trade strategies to drive profitable growth. This role partners closely with Sales, Finance, Broker Agency partners, and Analytics to support customer business plans, monitor trade spend, and deliver actionable insights. The Trade Analyst serves as a key contributor to trade planning processes, system execution, and performance reporting while continuing to build expertise in trade management and CPG commercial practices.

What You Do.  

  • Strategic Trade Planning & Business Support
    • Support the analysis of customer sales and business plans to identify opportunities, risks, and gaps
    • Quantify financial and volume impacts of trade strategies and proposed changes
    • Partner with crossfunctional teams (Sales, Finance, Demand Planning, Analytics) to develop recommendations
    • Prepare analysis and materials for discussions with Sales Managers and Directors
    • Implement approved changes to customer business plans within the Trade Management System
      • Clearly communicate updates, assumptions, and implications to downstream teams
      • Coordinate execution across customer teams as directed
    • Trade Promotion Management & Systems Execution
      • Support daytoday execution of trade planning and promotion management within the Trade Promotion Management (TPM) system
      • Assist in managing Broker Agency Financial Managers’ inputs to ensure accuracy and timeliness
      • Maintain trade plans, promotional events, and system data in alignment with governance standards
      • Support training efforts for Field Sales and Broker Agency partners on trade processes and tools
      • Provide feedback and support on system enhancements and process improvements
    • Promotional, Pricing & Customer Analytics
      • Analyze and report on customer pricing, promotional, and merchandising strategies
      • Assist in evaluating promotion effectiveness through postpromotion analysis
      • Develop working knowledge of customer promotion policies, tendencies, and constraints
      • Support competitive analysis and customer review preparation
      • Apply customer segmentation and profitability concepts (e.g., PNOC) to support trade decisionmaking 
    • Trade Spend, Budget & Financial Controls
      • Support customerlevel trade budget tracking and monitoring
      • Prepare and review reports and scorecards to identify variances and potential risks
      • Assist with the trade and slotting exception process, following established guidelines
      • Coordinate with Finance and Customer Support on deductions tracking and resolution
      • Support reconciliation of customer order pricing and approved offers in partnership with Demand Planning and Customer Support
    • Annual & InYear Planning Support
      • Support annual, midyear, and inyear trade planning activities with Field Sales and Broker Agency partners
      • Assist in maintaining customer business plans aligned to strategic planning rates
      • Incorporate insights from postpromotion analysis into future trade recommendations
      • Contribute to the development and maintenance of customer planning templates and tools
    • Available for travel 20% of the time

Your Education and Experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree required  
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office required
  • Syndicated date experience required: Circana/IRI or Nielsen
  • CPG experience preferred
