Job Description:
The Lot Attendant / Sales Porter is responsible for helping maintain the organization, appearance, and daily flow of the sales department lot and vehicle inventory. This role supports sales managers, sales consultants, and other dealership staff by ensuring vehicles are parked properly, easy to locate, fueled when needed, photographed for online listings, and ready for customer appointments, test drives, deliveries, and display. Primary responsibilities include: Maintain the organization and professional appearance of the dealership lot, showroom vehicles, and display areas. Move, park, and arrange new and pre-owned vehicles as directed by sales management. Keep vehicle rows neat, properly spaced, and professionally presented. Ensure vehicles are staged and ready for customer appointments, test drives, deliveries, photos, and display. Photograph new and pre-owned inventory for the dealership website and online listings as directed. Ensure vehicle photos are clear, consistent, and represent the inventory professionally. Ensure vehicles have proper fuel levels, charge levels, window stickers, plate frames, and other required materials. Assist the sales team with locating vehicles on the lot or at other dealership locations. Check in newly arrived inventory and help ensure vehicles are placed in the proper location. Transport vehicles between dealership departments, storage areas, vendors, and other Ruge's Auto Group locations when required. Assist with dealer trades / deal swaps, including transporting vehicles to and from other dealerships as directed. Help maintain proper control of keys, dealer plates, and vehicle paperwork when moving or transporting vehicles. Keep the lot, sidewalks, and customer areas free of trash and debris. Assist with snow removal, vehicle movement, and lot preparation during winter weather. Report vehicle damage, warning lights, mechanical concerns, missing equipment, or lot safety issues to management. Follow dealership procedures for handling vehicles, keys, dealer plates, and customer property. Provide friendly, professional assistance to customers and team members when needed.
Job Requirement:Preferred qualifications include: Valid driver's license with a clean and acceptable driving record. Ability to safely operate and park a variety of vehicles, including trucks and SUVs. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Strong attention to detail and pride in lot appearance and vehicle presentation. Ability to follow directions and complete tasks efficiently. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, and move throughout the dealership lot for extended periods. Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed. Professional appearance and customer-friendly demeanor. Basic comfort using a smartphone, tablet, or camera to photograph vehicles for online inventory listings. Previous dealership, automotive, lot attendant, porter, vehicle handling, or inventory photography experience is helpful but not required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness and ability to drive vehicles to other dealerships for dealer trades / deal swaps when needed.
