You as an Operations Manager will:

  • Provide daily leadership and direction to Supervisors and frontline teams across maintenance and building operations
  • Ensure effective execution of preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive work in line with SLA/KPI expectations
  • Monitor service performance, ensuring compliance with hospital operational and contractual requirements
  • Drive improved responsiveness, reliability, and quality of service delivery
  • Manage and coordinate a unionized workforce, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and legislation
  • Oversee shift coverage, absenteeism response, and workload redistribution
  • Lead performance management, coaching, and discipline processes in collaboration with People and Culture.
  • Manage operational budgets related to labour, overtime, and subcontractors
  • Improve span-of-control effectiveness and accountability at the frontline
  • Ensure effective daily and weekly planning routines, including work prioritization and scheduling
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario OHSA, Healthcare accreditation requirements, and P# contractual obligations
  • Promote a strong safety culture and incident prevention approach
  • Support the Plant Manager with regulatory compliance on critical building systems and operations
  • Act as primary operational contact for internal stakeholders and hospital representatives
  • Support issue escalation, resolution, and communication
  • Lead root cause analysis on operational failures and performance gaps

Is this role right for you?

  • Minimum 5-10 years in Facilities Management or building operations
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field is preferred
  • Trade certification (Electrician, Millwright, HVAC, etc.) is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a healthcare or acute care environment
  • Experience with managing unionized labour environments
  • Experience in multi-trade maintenance operations (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing)
  • Experience managing supervisors and large operational teams
  • The salary range for this position is $100,000-$115,000
