POSITION SUMMARY


The Track Maintenance Worker performs racetrack maintenance duties; operates a variety of equipment in support of a well maintained race track and grounds; provides routine labor support duties to higher level management staff; and performs related tasks within area of assignment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

(These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position)

Delivers superior internal and external guest service the Boyd Gaming Way by ensuring every interaction includes our Six Core Service Standards (Look sharp, smile and greet the guest; Be friendly, polite and use courteous language; Provide especially timely and knowledgeable service and then some; Always find solutions to guests' problems; Use the guest's name when appropriate; Thank the guest and invite him or her back.); and work harmoniously with fellow team members.

Assumes responsibility for maintenance of the racetrack and racing grounds; and greets and interacting with our guest in a friendly, courteous, responsive and accurate manner.
Maintains the appearance of the track to maintain required standards; maintains plants, trees and shrubs and applies chemicals as needed under supervision.
Operates a variety of vehicles, machinery and equipment to include tractor, pick-up truck, and a variety of hand power and manual maintenance tools.

Performs a variety of grounds maintenance duties to include weed treatment, painting, trash collection and operating of irrigation systems


Performs preventative maintenance as needed; and cares and maintains all light and heavy equipment.

Notifies higher level management of any suspicious or unusual activity and/or transactions in a timely manner

Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and innovations in the field of track and ground maintenance.

Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)

High School Diploma or GED, with some grounds and maintenance experience  

Ability to maintain all Regulatory licenses within assigned state of employment

Must successfully pass background check

Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening

Must be twenty-one (21) years of age

Must be willing to work a variety of shifts to include swing shifts and holidays if needed

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of:

Operations, services and activities of racetrack maintenance operations; safe and proper chemical applications; common tools and operations of various maintenance vehicles and tools; basic principles of landscaping; customer service techniques; knowledge of thoroughbred racing; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations

Ability to:

Safely and effectively perform maintenance and modification repair work; use hand and power tools and operate light and heavy equipment; read and follow designs and blue prints; operate irrigation equipment; work back on work performed and issues encountered; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; prepare clear and concise reports; interpret policies and procedures; interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, laws and regulations.
