Job description

JOB SUMMARY
TRAC Intermodal is seeking a Project Manager who combines strong ownership, exceptional relationshipbuilding skills, and a sharp focus on operational and financial outcomes. This role supports strategic initiatives that enhance TRACโ€™s chassis fleet quality, improve customer experience, modernize technology platforms, streamline operational processes, and strengthen partnerships across the intermodal supply chain.

You will work within Agile/Scrum delivery teams while translating progress into clear, milestonebased reporting for senior leadership. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fastmoving operational environment, brings disciplined process management, and consistently aligns project execution with TRACโ€™s business goals and ROI expectations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.

Project Ownership & Leadership

  • Serve as the accountable owner for TRACโ€™s project outcomes, ensuring alignment with key priorities such as chassis fleet reliability, equipment availability, operational efficiency, and customer service excellence.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of project objectives and continuously guide teams toward delivering measurable valueโ€”not just completing tasks.
  • Identify risks and dependencies across internal teams (Operations, Equipment Services, IT, Finance, Customer Support) and external partners (railroads, terminals, depots, and drayage providers).

Agile Delivery Tailored to TRACโ€™s Operations

  • Lead Agile ceremonies and support crossfunctional teams working on initiatives such as chassis tracking enhancements, customer visibility tools, depot process improvements, billing modernization, and operational automation.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to refine backlogs that reflect TRACโ€™s operational priorities, customer commitments, and service-level expectations.
  • Convert Agile sprint progress into executiveready waterfallstyle reporting, including milestone tracking, critical path updates, and operational impact summaries.

Stakeholder & Partner Communication

  • Build strong, trustbased relationships across TRACโ€™s business units and with external partners who influence equipment flows, terminal performance, and customer experience.
  • Communicate complex operational and technical information in a clear, concise, and actionable way tailored to each audienceโ€”from depot managers to senior executives.
  • Provide transparent reporting that connects project progress to TRACโ€™s KPIs, including fleet quality, turntime performance, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Process & Detail Management

  • Develop and maintain project plans, RAID logs, dashboards, and documentation with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to TRACโ€™s project governance processes while identifying opportunities to streamline workflows across operations and technology teams.
  • Coordinate crossfunctional activities to ensure alignment, remove blockers, and maintain momentum in a dynamic intermodal environment.

Value, ROI, & Operational Impact

  • Evaluate project decisions through the lens of operational efficiency, cost savings, chassis utilization, service reliability, and customer value.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations leadership to ensure projects deliver measurable ROIโ€”whether through reduced maintenance costs, improved fleet visibility, enhanced customer tools, or optimized depot operations.
  • Use data and metrics to validate assumptions, measure progress, and support informed decision

Enthusiastic Skepticism & Critical Thinking

  • Ask probing questions to uncover operational risks, clarify requirements, and challenge assumptionsโ€”especially in areas involving equipment lifecycle, partner dependencies, or technology integrations.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, operational discipline, and datadriven decision
  • Validate that proposed solutions address root causes and support TRACโ€™s longterm strategic goals.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of project management experience, ideally within intermodal transportation, logistics, supply chain, or related operational environments.
  • Experience leading Agile/Scrum teams and translating Agile delivery into milestonebased reporting for senior leadership.
  • Strong understanding of intermodal operations, chassis lifecycle management, depot processes, and partner relationships across rail, terminal, and drayage networks.
  • Exceptional communication and relationshipbuilding skills across operational, technical, and executive teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate ROI, interpret operational data, and support strategic decision
  • Demonstrated ability to manage details while keeping sight of broader operational and financial goals.
  • PMP, CSM, or similar certifications are a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment (3 days in-office)
