Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description

The Engineering Excellence & Strategy – Assembly Planning Department is seeking a passionate and highly-motivated Assembly Technician/Controls Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide technical and skilled support to the EES Assembly Planning Engineering team. This includes design and drawing review, buyoff support, installation and commissioning, as well as equipment startup support. The person in this role will support the EES Assembly Planning department's objective to deliver high quality, cost-effective, and reliable plant equipment and control systems.

Responsibilities
  • Review equipment specifications and designs, identify improvements, and conduct vendor buyoffs to confirm equipment compliance.
  • Verify the safety, quality, and productivity of equipment.
  • Investigate and determine modification requirements, implement changes, and conduct trials and adjustments.
  • Oversee vendor installations and facilitate the kanban process to lower costs and decrease project time.
  • Enhance equipment quality and productivity by implementing adjustments identified during online vehicle trials.
  • Install, set up, and troubleshoot program controllers such as Allen-Bradley.
  • Provide training to maintenance members on newly implemented equipment.
  • Share subject matter expertise with local NAMC Maintenance and Production Members.
Essential Skills
  • Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills with systems such as Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PLC’s with 6+ years of experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical circuits and industrial controls with 4+ years of experience.
  • 2-year technical degree or completion of a trade school program (EET or Industrial Maintenance Technology) or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Proficiency with MS Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, TEAMs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial robot programming and teaching.
  • Knowledge of AGVs/AMRs programming and setup.
  • Knowledge of safety scanners and programming.
  • Knowledge of various industrial controls networking, EthernetIP, FLNet, ProfiNet, etc.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of Toyota Machinery Standards (NA-AMS, G-AMS, Machinery Risk Assessment, etc).
  • OSHA 10 certification.
Work Environment

This role requires the ability to travel up to 20% of the time and work up to 20% overtime when required. The candidate should be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs on occasion and perform frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching on varying surfaces. Manual dexterity is necessary to operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery. Good vision and hand-eye coordination are needed for detailed repairs. The work environment promotes flexible schedules and a strong work/life balance. Although travel can be a factor for some positions, arrangements for rotation of weeks can be made. The organization offers 10 PTO days and 9 paid holidays per calendar year. Any hours worked over 40 are compensated at time and a half, and all travel for contractors is managed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
