Summary
Performs tasks to ensure that linen/clothing distribution and cleaning best meet the care needs of patients/staff, and that all linen is handled, stored, and processed to control/prevent infection. Distributes the linen, stocks shelves, and carts to established par levels, utilizing the exchange cart system and collects collect solid linen. Provides exceptional customer service while ensuring the satisfaction of internal customers. Performs tasks to ensure that linen/clothing distribution and cleaning best meet the care needs of patients/staff, and that all linen is handled, stored, and processed to control/prevent infection. Distributes the linen, stocks shelves, and carts to established par levels, utilizing the exchange cart system and collects collect solid linen. Provides exceptional customer service while ensuring the satisfaction of internal customers.
Job Duties
  • Collects soiled linens and personal clothing from designated areas.
  • Distributes linen/clothing to areas for pickup by nursing assistants.
  • Monitors the quality of linen daily.
  • Loads and operates washing machines following equipment instructions.
  • Follows the delivery and retrieval procedure of the linen services department at all times.
  • Follows infection control guidelines while collecting soiled linen, i.e. gloves, gowns, face shield.
  • Strives for optimal use of supplies, materials, keeping in mind cost and budget limitations.
  • Loads washers to provide continuous flow of linens through the wash/dry/fold process.
  • Receives and records receipt linen for clean and disposable linen.
  • Processes linens through the ironer/folder and towel folder.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1 year
  • Demonstrates knowledge of PC's and software.
  • Familiarity with hospital terminology.
  • Must possess and exhibit customer service, teamwork, strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be physically able to move/control heavy carts and lift linen bundles and full linen bags.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize and work independently, in a constantly changing environment.

Physical Demands
Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
