Job description

Summary
SPEVCO is a proud design, build, and tour logistics partner of the VA250 program in the state of Virginia. The VA250 program is a mobile museum (custom-built by Spevco) that engages and educates people across the state about Virginia's role in our nation's founding, and how that legacy has been passed on to each subsequent generation as we continue to work toward "a more perfect union" together. Spevco is seeking two (2) incredible Class A CDL Tour Operators for this program. Details are below...
Who We Are
For over 50 years, SPEVCO has designed, built, and operated Special Event Vehicles for mobile product marketing tours, mobile education and training, workforce development, incident command & control, disaster relief, mobile medical, and more.
Our clients are cool. Our culture is awesome. Our vehicles are amazing. Our people are pure gold.
Who We Want
SPEVCO is hiring two (2) full-time Class A CDL Drivers / Tour Operators for a state-specific tour in Virginia. This tour will require two people to operate. Do you have Class A CDL driving experience? Do you love to travel? Do you have exceptional client service skills? Do you have experience operating specialty trailers/exhibits for brand activation and/or experiential marketing? If yes, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Be Doing
Driving is just the beginning of this position. In this role, you'll transport and operate a custom mobile museum across the state of Virginia. The purpose of this tour is to commemorate Virginia's role in the 250th anniversary of American independence by educating Virginians about their history and civic duty and sharing diverse narratives that capture Virginia's complete story and role in shaping the nation. You'll be;
  • Safely driving a Class A Vehicle
  • Setting the stage for an awesome museum experience by preparing this mobile exhibit (set up, cleaning, and tear down)
  • Staying on-site for technical support
  • Always following safety guidelines
  • Having fun in the process

But, a lot goes on behind the scenes to achieve this...
  • We'll train you to set up this custom-expandable trailer and to operate all of the various components
  • You'll travel the state of VA, and specific schedules will vary from week to week
  • As a Class A CDL holder, you will safely drive the event Tractor/Trailer to each event site to set up for the day
  • Execute the day's event, and pack up for the next day's event in partnership with another tour operator
    • A chase vehicle is provided for the second Tour Operator
  • You'll ensure the event trailer and all exhibits are clean, safe, and show-ready
  • Tear down the trailer and pack exhibits each day at the end of the event
  • Full training will be provided, including safe operation of the event trailer, operation of all technology aboard the trailer, ELDs, and more

What You Get Paid
Compensation is a competitive salary and is dependent on your experience in our unique industry. In addition to salary, our Tour Operators receive a per diem while on the road to cover hotel, meals, and more.
SPEVCO also offers a great host of benefits from Medical/Rx, Dental, and Vision, voluntary Disability and Life Insurance, FSA or HSA, 401k with match, PTO plan, and 9 paid holidays.
The Nitty Gritty Requirements and Preferences
  • Leadership, Integrity, and Positive Energy
  • Ideally, candidates will live in the state of Virginia
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A valid Class A driver's license with a clean driving record and a valid DOT Medical Certificate is required
  • 2 Years of Class A driving experience with 53ft trailers, preferred
  • Experience with moving and setting up custom-expandable event trailers, strongly preferred
  • Strong client service skills and a desire to help our clients achieve their goals
  • Comfortable troubleshooting mechanical and technology problems with SPEVCO's expert support
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently and as part of a team for long periods of time
  • Computer skills - Ability to use a tablet computer (Android-based), email, MS Suite, various Web-Based applications, ELDs, etc
  • Willingness to maintain a "show-ready" clean and safe vehicle and exhibit
  • Strong safety mindset and desire to be part of, and promote our safety culture
  • Must be the safest of drivers over the road

Physical & Mental Requirements
Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to be able to perform duties, in at times extreme environments, as well as the ability to handle stressors of the position in operational and administrative situations. Required to frequently lift and move 50-100 pounds. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, lift, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, hear, taste, smell, see, and operate objects, tools, and controls.
