SECURITY SUPERVISOR

Summary:

The Security Supervisor is an onstage position that is part of the wider Guest Experience team at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are responsible for the daily supervision of Security Staff and security functions. They help ensure we provide a safe environment for fans, employees, partners, and the Rock Hall collections. They are also part of a team that is responsible for creating an engaging experience for all Rock Hall fans while sharing their love of rock and roll. This includes interacting with guests, serving as a role model to the security team, and ensuring that the Museum provides superior quality service on a day-to-day basis. They exemplify the Rock Hall’s Fans First philosophy, are a regular presence in the Museum (including evenings and weekends), have a deep passion for music, are comfortable speaking in front of crowds, and deliver high-quality experiences to fans from around the world.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Works onstage embodying our mission to “Engage, Teach and Inspire through the power of rock and roll”.

  • Inspects building daily and reports any safety hazards.
  • Assists fans needing special accommodations. Identifies ADA requirements and ensures our compliance.
  • Ensures that Security staff conducts all activities with the Fans First principles and procedures in mind. Understands the Rock Hall brand and our fans. Serves as a role model for all visitor facing staff.
  • Submits daily End of Day report to fellow MODs and museum-wide operations staff.
  • Works with Department Director/Manager to create and implement departmental policies, procedures, security programs, training and upgrades.
  • Makes suggestions and implements improvements to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and directs contract security services as required.
  • Sets a strong example for all staff. Observes and provides prompt feedback and directions to staff. Ensures Security staff learn and develop new skills.
  • Keeps Department Director/Manager apprised of staffing issues, including performance problems and attendance matters.
  • Sets a strong example by exhibiting and recognizing superior quality service.
  • Ensures assigned work areas are kept clean by staff; takes responsibility for maintaining a welcoming environment.

Responsible for daily Security department functions.

  • Makes initial attempt to address disorderly or dissatisfied fans. Contact the Security Director/Manager if the situation cannot be resolved in a timely and satisfactorily manner.
  • Responds and makes initial attempts to address emergency situations according to Rock Hall procedures and assists fans, partners, and employees in emergency situations.
  • Acts as liaison to EMS/paramedics and fire or police as needed in directed in emergency situations.
  • Oversees radio communication and command center operation. Is trained on and acts as a subject matter expert on the fire systems, security cameras, access controls systems, etc.
  • Assists all staff as requested.
  • Serves as a VIP tour escort as needed.
  • Cross-trained as power-user of Rock Hall ticketing system.
  • Actively participates in morning Sound Check meeting with onstage staff, ensuring daily operation information & key internal messaging is relayed to staff.
  • Manages the Lost and Found program.

Assists in the training of Security Representatives. 

  • Assists with new-hire orientation, creation, and execution of Security staff professional development.
  • Ensures Security staff develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of the Rock Hall exhibits, special accommodations, Rock Hall policy and procedures, alarm systems, etc.
  • Using the task checklists documents training the security staff receives.
  • Provide training to all Rock Hall staff when the director/manager is unable to in emergency and evacuation procedures.

Duties include but may not be limited to the above.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level:

  • Ability to read and demonstrate basic oral, written, mathematical and manual skills. Ability to communicate in standard English. High school graduate and equivalent professional experience. Associate degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.

Experience in Field:

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a highly visible security position where there is significant exposure and contact with customers/fans.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a security, visitor experience, or customer service role is preferred.

Work Schedule:

  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week; any shift as assigned, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Unique Expertise/Certification/Registrations:

  • Minimum 120 hours of Ohio Peace Officer Training Center (OPTC) preferred.
  • First-aid and CPR certified.
  • Bilingual capabilities preferred.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame reference check, background investigation, and drug screening.
  • Ability to wear a complete uniform including earphones/radio headset.
  • Computer Literate: Microsoft Products preferred.

Benefits and Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $42,000 – $46,000, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.
