About the Role
Job Summary: The Lead Team Coach is responsible for developing and coaching a competitive youth climbing team, with a focus on achieving national-level success. This role involves creating training programs, ensuring climber safety, and fostering a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coaching and Training:
    • Lead team practices and prepare climbers for competitions.
    • Develop and implement training plans that promote skill development and personal growth.
    • Provide constructive feedback and support to help climbers improve.
  • Program Coordination:
    • Collaborate with other coaches to ensure consistency and quality across all team levels.
    • Assist with tryouts, team selection, and advancing climbers through the program.
  • Safety and Supervision:
    • Oversee climber safety during practices, ensuring all belaying and spotting meets standards.
    • Ensure training impacts gym members and equipment appropriately.
  • Parent and Team Communication:
    • Communicate with parents about schedules, competitions, and updates.
    • Provide timely feedback on individual and team performance.
  • Administration:
    • Manage team registrations, attendance, and USAC affiliations.
    • Work with gym management on program logistics and facility coordination.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in youth coaching, ideally in climbing or a related sport.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for youth development.
  • USAC coaching certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching youth in climbing or a related athletic discipline.
  • Strong communication and teaching skills, with a passion for working with children.
  • USAC coaching certification (or ability to obtain).

Physical Requirements:
  • Proficiency in belaying and teaching physical training exercises with an emphasis on safety and proper technique.
  • Ability to stand, belay, spot climbers, and perform various physical activities for extended periods.
  • Capacity to provide hands-on support to climbers of all ages, adapting to individual needs and abilities.

Compensation
Starting Pay is $23.00/hour. Lead Team Coach individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to; facility location and type, membership volume, experience, and job/position tenure.
