Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director, Total Rewards the Senior Benefits Analyst will implement, administer and evaluate Versiti welfare, wellness and retirement plans, programs and vendors based on business strategy, competitive position and employee needs. This position will proactively assess and administer Versiti benefit plans and programs in compliance with organizational policies and procedures as well as federal and state governing bodies to support the benefit and compensation function and seeks integrated solutions which deliver value added service. In addition, the Senior Benefits Analyst will be an integral member of the team to establish direction and long range benefit strategy for the organization. Incumbent acts as Secretary to the Retirement Benefits Plan and Benefits Plans Committees.

Responsibilities
  • Benefits Planning and Administration * Partners with insurance brokers and providers to ensure cost-effective and competitive benefit plans. * Researches, analyzes, and recommends new or revised benefit plans/policies that are cost-effective and meet defined objectives based on trends, fiscal considerations and customer needs. * Participates in the benefits design and develops and executes implementation plan for approved changes; develops and monitors metrics to assess effectiveness of plans. * Oversees vendor relationships to ensure high level of service and process efficiency; audits and processes invoices; ensures compliance and accuracy of various reporting requirements. * Administers benefit plans according to plan documents and defined objectives. Provides direction to HR Operations on operational processes and standards. * Plans and executes the annual benefit enrollment activities, preparing materials and communication plan, scheduling meetings, monitoring and ensuring employee eligibility, etc. * Proactively identifies benefit related issues to help management and employees resolve, following consistent policies and practices as well as employment laws. Serves as a consultant educating and consulting with employees regarding benefit plans, and managing problems/issues that arise. * Partners with Finance to maintain an ongoing cost analysis to ensure budgetary guidelines are achieved. * Works closely with Payroll to assure effective benefits administration impacting payroll activities. * Monitors compliance with state and federal laws related to benefit plans, providing written notification to employees as needed; seeks approval for legal advice on changes impacting all employee benefits. * Prepares and submits 5500 reports/Summary Annual Reports (SAR) for all benefit plans. * Oversees benefit administration and processing including demographic, employment, benefit, compensation and payroll information stored in the Human Resource Information System. * Provides guidance and serves as a resource to other Total Rewards or HR team members in processing payroll, benefit processing and benefit billings.
  • Retirement Plan Coordination and Administration * Ensures effective administration of retirement programs, including overseeing data flows and funding of employee contributions to the 401(k), 403b, and 457 plans administrator(s). * Acts as primary contact for day to day Retirement Plan Operations * Serves as Secretary to the Retirement Benefits Committee and as a voting member on the retirement plan board * Acts as primary contact for Financial Audits and the preparation of 5500s, SARs, other
  • Benefit Employment Laws * Manages the Integrated Disability Management Program and ensures compliance with Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other applicable laws and regulation impacting benefits and disability management. Defines operating processes, leads the Case Management Process, monitors effectiveness, and takes appropriate action to improve process. * Coordinates Unemployment Compensation (UC) reporting in conjunction with appropriate HR and payroll staff, including providing appropriate documentation and attending UC hearings with the involved department manager. * Designs and delivers management training related to benefit employment laws as necessary.
  • Wellness Initiatives * Designs, implements, and leads the Versiti Wellness Initiatives that contribute to the development of a wellness culture, encourage employee wellness behaviors, and reduce overall health care costs. * Develops and monitors metrics to measure effectiveness of wellness programs; takes appropriate action to improve.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, business, or related field required

Experience
  • 4-6 years progressive benefits experience in a complex work environment including benefit plan administration, resolving complex benefit and payroll related issues, and working in partnership with peers, business leaders, and employees to support their needs required
  • 4-6 years Successful experience managing disability and wellness programs, Return to work programs, leave of absence, and related programs, including interactions with Payroll required
  • 4-6 years Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required
  • 4-6 years Experience with integrated Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll systems required
  • Successful development, implementation, communications, and realization of welfare benefits programs required
  • Experience in a health care setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of HR laws and practices impacting employee benefits required
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to design and implement processes associated with benefit changes required
  • Detail-oriented to evaluate and ensure accuracy of data required
  • Strong sense of urgency, results and action-oriented required
  • Analytical and problem solving skills; working knowledge conducting complex calculations and analysis to determine benefits costs and ROI. Strong business acumen to understand business implications of benefits cost models required
  • Ability to communicate with confidence in order to write, interpret and explain information related to benefits both one-on-one and in groups; effective presentation skills required
  • Experience in the design, development, and writing of comprehensive benefits communications, including employee portal, enrollment campaigns, ongoing programs preferred
  • Track record of building and maintaining strong customer and cross-functional relationships while providing excellent customer service required
