Job description

Gulf Coast News,  the NBC affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida,  is looking for a Topical Producer to write and produce daily topicals and targeted special report promotions.  As a Topical Producer, you will be involved in the production of other Creative Services Projects including station branding promotion, contests and client commercials.  You will also assist the promotions department in other tasks, as assigned. You will report to the Creative Services Director.   

Responsibilities

  • Manage the creation of strong and impactful on-air promotional spots by utilizing skills in writing, producing, directing, graphic development, editing, and/or shooting as needed.
  • Work closely with the Creative Services Director in conceptualizing innovative/brand conscious daily topicals and Targeted Special Report Promotions.
  • Collaborate with internal marketing team to execute concepts for daily topicals and promotional campaigns.
  • Arrange material, insert music, dialogue, and sound effects using editing equipment.  Ensure that final projects are approved prior to broadcast.
  • Perform any associated duties that may be assigned in relation to completion of the project.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field
  • Minimum 2 years working as a topical writer/producer
  • Experience in News promotion is a plus.
  • Must have strong writing skills
  • Must have strong knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production technology
  • Must be able to shoot and edit topicals while managing deadlines.
  • Must have strong editing skills in non-linear edit systems, such as Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Must have a good understanding of graphics and visual effects
  • Must be detail-oriented and be able to multi-task
  • Must be able to prioritize workflow based on a constantly changing, fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work both independently and as an effective team member
  • Must have excellent communication, listening, and computer skills
  • Related military experience will be considered
