Your Role:
As a Manufacturing Operator 4 at MilliporeSigma, you will produce, package, and purify chemical compounds to meet customer requirements while serving as a senior technical resource for the production and packaging teams. You will independently troubleshoot complex production issues, lead process improvements, support root cause investigations and CAPA activities, and model a strong safety, quality, and inclusive culture. In this TOPAZ role you will write/review SOPs, assist with equipment commissioning, assist with new plant operations, and any additional activities required to bring the new plant online. This role will work with TOPAZ project engineers, TOPAZ supervisor, and TOPAZ Senior associate production scientists to prepare for and commission the new plant. Post TOPAZ project completion, you will support the Production 1 group in daily production and supporting day-to-day operations.
In this role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • High-Hazard Manufacturing & Packaging: Produce, purify, and package chemical compounds following MPRs/SOPs, including high-hazard operations using glove boxes, ampoules, robotics, and pyrophoric filling.
  • Perform in-process analytical testing, sample preparation, and rigorous Good Documentation Practices (GDP) to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee material staging, chemical charging, labeling, neutralization, and hazardous waste disposal.
  • Lead root-cause investigations (CAPAs), resolve technical equipment anomalies, and drive 6S/OPEX initiatives.
  • Operate and monitor DCS systems and production vessels, executing preventative maintenance and tracking consumable supplies.
  • Manage SAP tasks, including process order time entries, Bill of Materials (BOM) updates, and inventory movements.
  • Serve as technical SME and team lead-mentoring peers, managing training records, building daily plans, and leading shift handovers.
  • Drive site safety and quality programs, identify hazards, support incident investigations, and participate in ERT, Safety Committee, or PDSA groups.
  • Assist with commissioning new equipment, drafting/reviewing SOPs and MPRs, and establishing new 6S workspace standards.
  • Project Communication & SME Leadership: Track and communicate commissioning status across teams and serve as plant-wide SME for new equipment operations.
  • Shift/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm.

Physical Attributes:
  • Work with open chemicals and wear appropriate PPE, including hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical-resistant suits, gloves, safety shoes, and other required protective equipment.
  • Occasionally sit, stand, walk, reach above shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and move more than 50 pounds with assistance as required.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts and in areas that may be wet, humid, hot, cold, or involve exposure to hazardous chemicals in liquid, solid, vapor, or airborne particle forms.
  • Meet vision requirements including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 7+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Chemistry, Biology or other life science discipline. Chemical Technician degree, or two years of college chemistry.
  • Experience with advanced chemistry production, packaging, or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with complex production or packaging techniques, in-process analytical testing, sample preparation, and interpretation.
  • Experience with SAP transactions used in production and packaging operations.
  • Experience leading root cause investigations, CAPA implementation, 6S/OPEX improvements, PDSA cycles, and sustainable process improvements.
  • Experience writing or revising SOPs, modifying MPRs, and preparing deviations or addendums.
  • Experience training employees, mentoring coworkers, and serve as a technical resource for production and/or packaging issues.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and basic math skills, including use of the metric system.
  • Ability to multitask, independently plan daily work, and support team productivity, safety, quality, and efficiency goals.

Pay Range for this position: $27/hr - $45/hr.
The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
